chapter 8 - Host days (part 1)

Haruhi's POV

I ran to the club room as I was already late 'I'm never gonna hear the end of it if I show up late!' I said while running down the hall and stopped at the club room's door and caught my breath for a bit then opened the door
"Welcome!" The club members said shocking me a bit 'can you see this from heaven mom?' I thought as a bird landed on my head

"Greetings Haruhi" Lia-senpai said waving at me "you finally made it Haruhi, you're so late" The twins added as I was looking through a calendar that was on Lia-senpai's desk "hey... I could be wrong but isn't it still early spring you guys?" I asked re-checking the calendar if I was seeing right "well actually.." Lia-senpai started "us fearing the cold is nonsense! Besides the heating system we have here in the club is the best!" Tamaki senpai added that made me sigh

"Oh? Do you have a problem with the way we run our club Haruhi?" Kyoya-senpai asked "if I where you Haruhi I'd be careful of my words, you do owe us 8 million yen for that vase you smashed yesterday" Lia-senpai said sweetly as I remembered of what happend yesterday in horror "I-I see" I said feeling ashamed as Lia-senpai giggled

"Darling I'm just teasing don't get yourself worked up, although of course you still do owe us so who is to say" She said as she fanned herself making me more nervous of how she said it "gentlemen don't need bulky clothes outside in the chilly real world, it may be cold outside but the warmth we will give to our chilly little kittens is through this warm tropical paradise!" Tamaki senpai said in triumph "That's funny cause I felt a massive chill just now" I said in annoyance

Lia's POV

"Awh, Haruhi don't be so down, why not enjoy today's theme?" I said taking her hand and pulling her gently as we walked through the paths of the little paradise we made "don't you think it's pretty Haruhi?" I asked her adoring the camellia flowers that reminded me of home "I guess it is senpai, although I can't shake off the weird feeling of this being in the clubroom" She said sighing as we walked more further in passing by girls as they waved at me making me smile at them in reply "so cute~" They said in awe "You sure are popular wherever you go senpai" Haruhi said as she loomed at me "oh now that's not true Haruhi" I said as I laughed a bit

We walked passed Tamaki and overheard his conversation "by the way ladies, next week the Ouran Host Club is sponsoring a party" He announced to them "we're throwing a party?" Haruhi asked me "why yes, as you heard from our king" I said laughing a bit as we walked again "I know that but, just what kind of party exactly senpai?" She asked me again "oh why, a formal party Haruhi, we rented the school's hall just for it" I said stopping in my tracks as I remembered something causing me to let her go

"this is as far as i'll be walking with you Haruhi, I'll be doing something as of the moment, but please do enjoy our mini efforts and entertain our guests okay?" I said smiling at her as I picked a camelia flower from a bush and gave it to her "senpai don't you have any appointments?" She asked looking at the flower as I looked at her "oh I did earlier but I cancelled them for today as I'll be busy, of course I handed them an invitation to the party so expect them to be there" I said as I walked away "see you later Haruhi" I added as I went to my desk to type down the hall decoration and arrangements I ensured the club I would complete

'how could I be so careless? Well, it's fine as my regular appointments were informed' I said sighing as Kyoya walked pass me and directly over to Haruhi's direction not looking at me at all 'and here I thought his attitude was just like when we were at the party' I sighed again and continued my work

Kyoya's POV

"The guests seem to be more worked up than usual today" Haruhi said as she observed the twins "showing some skin is popular with the guests nowadays" I told her as I wrote down in my notebook "so are you behind this crazy idea?" She asked me "I have no decision on making authority as all of the clubs policies are laid out by the king who is Tamaki" I answered, stopping as I fixed my glasses

"But, I guess there's no harm in admitting to casually slip a photo of Bali on his desk" I said as I went back to writing "Oh I see" She said with her eyebrow twitching "by the way senpai, as I recall Lia-senpai wasn't in a Bali costume, if anything I would've thought she would participate in the club's activities the most, and also where is her twin brother?" She asked looking in Lia's direction

I stopped writing as I looked in Lia's direction as well "ah yes, well Lia actually is not allowed to show skin as it is a tradition in her family, not only does it require them to only wear a hanfu but also as she is only allowed to show her husband and besides, she doesn't have any customers today" I answered "oh, and her brother caught the flu, like you said it is early spring" I added as she still looked at Lia's direction "you know a lot about Lia-senpai, don't you Kyoya senpai?" She stated as she caught me looking at Lia making me look back at my notebook

"well of course, Kyoya-senpai is engaged to Lia-senpai" One of the hitachiin twins said which I assume was Hikaru "yeah they've been engaged for 2 months now, I'm surprised you never heard" The other said which i'm certain was Kaoru "well, they aren't wrong, she is my betrothed, therefore it is only right I get to know a bit about her" I said as I started writing in my notebook again 'I just wish I get rid of these feelings as it's not healthy for business' I thought mentally sighing

"Oh I see..." Haruhi said as I felt her hesitate to say something "you can say what you think" I reassured her as she looked at me and back at Lia "oh..I'm sorry, it's just, I never knew Lia-senpai would be one for how do I say it... The intelligent type?" She said as she scratched her head 'I am honestly concerned myself as I know she had another reason to agree to the engagement' I thought as Haruhi bid farewell walking to were here clients where, I sighed as I continued writing in my notebook while looking back at Lia from time to time observing her from afar

Lia's POV

"Achoo!" I sneezed as I looked around "hm, funny I thought when you sneeze it is said that someone may be talking about you?" I asked myself as I still looked around and saw no one "oh well" I said going back to work on my laptop
