I write Team Fortress 2 Reader inserts. (X Readers, basically). I do not take requsts. Maybe some time in the future.
For female readers usually but as of 2020 I'm trying to make it more open to everyone (not using gendered terms) unless if it is a...
Sniper was crouched there. His fists were clenched around an air pump, pumping air into the front left tire of his van. Didn't he say he retired using that old thing? His van, that is. It was odd to see him back with the 'love of his life' again.
He stood, wiping his forehead with his sleeve. You watched as he turned with the pump in his hand and hopped into the back of his van to deposit it. Then he jumped into the front seat. After he slammed his door and started it up, you bolted towards the van and jumped onto the ladder on the back just as it gripped and spun gravel behind it, speeding away from the (R/B) base. With iron fists you gripped the ladder as he took twists and turns through the forest. The cold air whipped your face and your scarf flapped behind you in the wind. It was probably a strange sight to see, a pajama clad person clinging desperately to the back of a camping van that cut through the night like it was in a high speed chase. Your eyes watered with an attempt to keep moist as he was going so fast they were drying from the cold air. Sniffling wasn't helping your dripping nose either, but there was no way you could rub it with your sleeve, as your arms were firmly planted against the metal ladder, daring not to let go.
It seemed like ages. Blue was the color of your hands that were stuck to the ladder like glue, you were holding on so tightly. Suddenly the van came to a screeching halt and you were plastered against the back of it with a loud thunk. You peeled your face off of the van as you heard the car door slam; Sniper was getting out. Was he going to investigate the loud noise? You jumped off and quickly ran around to the other side, crouching and looking below the van to see where his feet were.
Crunch, crunch, crunch.
His feet were retreating through the grass and leaves rather than investigating where you were. He must not have heard you, after all. Is he deaf? Your face still hurt from slamming into the van!
More questions arose. If we're in the middle of nowhere, where the heck is he going? Why did he stop here?
Your eyes wandered over the dark trees reaching towards the sky above. The mottled with moonlight grass lining the forest below. The stray leaves that scattered everywhere and blew gently with the breeze. This place was actually quite tranquil for being a dark part of the forest. You stepped out from behind the van and beheld an even more exquisite sight before you.

There was an opening in the trees where the galaxies mingled in magical mania. Purple hugged pink and blue kissed orange in an array of color. Some stars whistled through the sky and danced through the river of blue. Others simply twinkled in delight. You'd never seen anything like this before. Unknowingly your jaw was agape as you stood and cast your eyes across the massive expanse of beauty.
"Well what do we have here? A stowaway?" You jumped, fixating your gaze on the man who was suddenly in front of you.
"You scared me, Sniper," you said with a huff. He smiled.
"It's alright shiela, I'm harmless. It's the wolves you should be scared of anyway." You noticed his sunglasses that were usually in front of his eyes were gone. His trusty akubra was also amiss, revealing his sharply cut hair that looked soft to the touch. He held a small handheld gas lantern in one hand, and its light reflected in his blue eyes as it softly glowed.
"Wolves?" You asked, after a moment of silence.
"Oh, yeah, they come out this way from time to time. Usually I can scare them off. They probably want to see this beaut of a sky too." You nodded, agreeing with him.
"Well, we probably shouldn't stay out here too long, then. Who knows if respawn works this far away," you said. He shook his head at you.
"Nah, (Y/n), why don't you stay with me a bit?" He asked. You felt the color rising in your cheeks. Wouldn't the men back at the base assume things? And why would he want your company? The two of you have never actually talked before now, just the simple casual greetings and helping each other on the field. Although, you have found yourself thinking about him from time to time... "I've got snacks over by my log pile, we could enjoy the night for a bit. Are you, err... Doesn't that sound like a real hoot?" You looked at him, thinking. On one hand the men would assume things if they figured out you both were gone. On the other hand you were the only one to notice Sniper sneaking out in the first place, so it was unlikely anybody would know anyway. The longer you thought, the more sheepish his smile grew. One of his hands reached behind his neck whilst the other found his pocket. Why was he nervous? You laughed your awkwardness away before speaking.
"Actually, now that you've mentioned snacks, that doesn't sound too bad."
He smiled, pulling his hand out of his pocket and reaching out towards you with it. After a brainfart of confusion you realized he wanted you to take it so you did. Slowly he started leading you towards a little setup in the center of the trees. He had logs piled up in the center for a fire with a thick log to sit on beside it. He led you to the thick log to sit while he started rubbing sticks to start up the fire. Once he had a decent flame that caught on, he sat down next to you.
"Well, shiela, I wasn't too keen on having to share, but since you've caught me sneaking out red-handed, you can have some of my (favorite/chips)."
You gasped. "You have (f/c)?! I love those!" He laughed at your excitement, and you found yourself scooting closer to him as he pulled out the bag of chips.
"Yeah, I've loved these crips since I was a boy. Which is why I don't just share them with anyone."
"Ah, I'm special to ya now, aren't I?"
"Well, not necessarily yet." Your eyes downcast in disappointment. "But a beaut who rivals the stars deserves some of their favorite chips, don't'cha think (Y/n)?" Your eyes shot up as fast as the color rose to your cheeks. Did he just compare you to the night sky? That was... Kind of romantic, actually. You don't have a crush on him, do you?? Why is your heart beating so fast?!
His arm suddenly found its way around your shoulder as his other hand pointed up at the sky.
"Look, make a wish, (Y/n)! A shooting star!" He whispered excitedly. He was so close that you could feel the warmth radiating off of him, and before you could think you pressed yourself against him, underneath his strong arms, shivering from the cold. Sniper gave a surprised gasp and went rigid, and for a moment you thought you'd made a mistake. But, slowly, he melted into you too, and the two of you leaned against each other for warmth on the cold, starry night. His arm was over your shoulder and you could hear his heartbeat. Nothing could make this night more perfect as the two of you soaked in the galaxy of stars.
