15. Protection

Protection:  If you are already a Christian, just converted, or not a Christian, you may have wondered about praying for protection for yourself, family, loved ones, protection from the enemy etc.  Most of the time the desire to pray for protection is there  but often we struggle with how to start or what to ask for.  For those of us that are new or are not Christian we may not yet be familiar with binding demons or warfare prayer.  Well, God gave us everything we need in the Bible.  The Psalms are prayers that we can say when we have no idea how to start praying or want to add more meaning to our prayers.  Psalm 91 is the best psalm to pray for protection of self, family and from demons.  Although warfare prayer is important, the psalms are good prayers to say when you are now starting off.

I have put together with Psalm 91 a special prayer you can say for protection with the inspiration from God.  Remember, however, that you do not have to say it this way all the time!  Be sincere and put your own words into it, pour your heart out to God because he is listening.  With faith and trust, comes results!  I do heavily advise that you pour your heart out to him during every prayer session and not just repeat everyday what is written on paper.  Switch it up!  Add your own words!  Create your own unique conversations and time with him.

Psalm 91

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. 

Surely, He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler and from the noisome pestilence.  He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust:  His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor the arrow that flieth by day; nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.  A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come night thee.  Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. 

Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.  For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.  They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash they foot against a stone.  Thou shall tread upon the lion and adder:  the young lion and the dragon shall thou trample under feet. 

Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him:  I will set him on high, because he hath known my Name.  He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.  With long life will I satisfy him, and she him my salvation.

   God, I know that you are protecting me, I know that you love me and whoever else I am praying these prayers for.  Help me/us to pour my/our heart out to you.  Protect us in our hour of need, give us the strength to go through life and live in accordance with your will. I love you God. 

I decree and declare that I am protected, I am loved, I am beautiful/handsome, my identity is in Christ, my worth is in you.  I will prosper!  My finances, my life, my family will be taken care of!  I will go and sin no more with the help of my Creator, and I am a Child of God in Jesus Christ’s name. 

I plead the blood of Jesus over my family, my home, my church, my life, and the lives of my loved ones.  I ask you Lord to protect me/us like your protected job and give me/us the grace and strength to say “NO!” to sin.  Keep us in all your ways Lord and prepare us for your coming.  I thank you for everything you have blessed me with, for the good and bad days and situations.  Lord I thank you!  In Jesus name I pray.  Amen.
