One must remember, before starting, that The Phantom of the Opera is not a romance novel. It's a detective story. A mystery. The prose is not flowery, nor is it heartfelt. Personally, I found that the plot and the characters gave it life. I have attempted to be true to Leroux, but not too much. Mostly because he killed my favourite character at the end of the book, and also because I am writing romance. I've tried to be true to his characters, however, and I hope I succeeded.
I've never been to France, my French is limited and my knowledge of ballet is mostly derived from the theory that I have grazed. I have done my research, however, and if I have made any mistakes, I urge you to correct me.
Happy reading!
*Note: This is a fanfiction of The Phantom of the Opera, but may be read as a stand-alone. One does not have to read the original to read this, but if you have not read the original and want to read it, beware: there are spoilers.
