CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE

Alex let out a shaky breath after hearing that. This was why she never wanted to tell Wally in the first place. She knew that he would do something like that and she never wanted to see him broken. After what she had gone through to get to where so was, she didn't want that pain upon anyone.

"And you?" Alex edged him to continue. She didn't want to be filled with worry about what was going to happen when she was gone, but she knew that she needed to hear it. Knowing what was going to happen might be another step in changing what was going to happen to her.

Barry seemed like he didn't want to answer. "I wasn't happy. Without you, I'll never be happy."

"But you were still with Iris, weren't you?" Alex pushed to get her answer. Barry reluctantly nodded. They had been together in the future, but it was more out of necessity than desire. Iris had always been there for him, and he did love her, but not the same way that he used to, the way that he loved Alex. "I want you to have happiness in the future, Bare, with or without me."

"I'm not going to let there be a world without Alex Holt in it. You're the heart of the team, without you, there is no team," Barry said. Alex shuffled towards him so that she could be wrapped in his arms. "We were all lost without you. I'm not going to let that future happen."

"Just promise me, that no matter what happens, let yourself move on. I love you too much to know that if I die, that you're going to be too absorbed in trying to fix things."

Tracy Brand was the scientist that was going to save Alex's life. She was the one that invented the technology that trapped Savitar four years from now. If they got to her before Alex was destined to die, then maybe she would be able to help them create the technology four years sooner.

Barry and Alex's chat about his future hadn't ended like they wanted it to. Barry got frustrated once again at Alex thinking pessimistically about her future again. This time, he tried to understand it from her perspective and agreed to her requests. Alex thanked him for at least willing to allow himself to think about his feelings first if she was to die.

The next couple days had been looking for Caitlin. Alex and Barry searched the entire city half a dozens times but there was so sign of her. Wally had decided to go visit Jesse on Earth-3 for a little while, but was hesitant to do so. He didn't want to leave if they needed his help but he also really missed Jesse.

After needing to take a little break from searching for Caitlin, the team decided to take a better shot at what Future Barry had told his past self. He showed everyone the little flash drive that his future self gave him.

On it, was Tracy Brand's future bibliography as well as some of her information. Barry, Cisco, HR, and Alex were all going to go to the university to try and find her before it was too late. If they could get her help, they had a fighting chance about stopping Savitar from ever killing her.

However, before they had left the cortex, Julian had blown up. He wondered why the hell no one was looking for Caitlin and why they weren't focusing on trying to find her. It was Cisco that retaliated, stating that they used every free moment that they had. Julian simply just wanted her back and was worried, they understood his pain.

"Oh I did not miss this place at all," Alex shuddered as she went through the halls. It had been years since she stepped foot in CCU and she was glad that she hadn't. The campus still looked much the same as it did before.

"Wait what, you went to school here?" Cisco was shocked to find out. "I mean like given your past and everything I just assumed that university was never part of your uh, criminal conquest."
