As the group stayed in Cinnabar Island to help out in the Aether Foundation Max and Bonnie decided to explore the Seafoam Cavern on their own with permission from Ash and May of course and also taking Pikachu, Alain's Charizard, Paul's Froslass and May's Blaziken with them to
"Wow this place is so pretty" Bonnie said as her Dedenne admired the place from her shoulder
"Yeah you think we can catch some really cool Pokémon here?" Max asked as he walked forward with his Mimikyu right next to him
"I bet we will I can't wait to catch an ice type" Bonnie said before she felt something splash her "Hey!"
"What is it?" Max asked before he felt something move behind him looking back he saw nothing
"What was that?" Mimikyu asked Pikachu before they something emerged from the water
"Huh a Wailmer?" Bonnie said after she got a good look at the pokemon
"It looks different though" Max said and on a bunch he took out his Deltadex and scanned it

"Wow that's so cool but why is it so sad?" Bonnie asked before Dedene, Mimikyu and Pikachu went up to the poor thing
"What's wrong?" Dedenne asked
"Mean people took me from my mama" Wailmer said this made Bonnie and Max really mad
"Don't worry Wailmer well help you" Max said determined to help this poor Pokémon
"Umhm we'll help for as long as you need, our family will understand when we explain it to them" Bonnie said as she reached out to pet Wailmer who hesitantly muzzled her hand once she felt the warmth of it
"Yeah we just need to be very very careful" Max said shivering at what a very worried and angry May, Lillie and Ash can do to them it they get hurt
"Alright then I'll call them can you make sure that Wailmer is strong enough to move?" Max said as he pulled out his pokedex and called Ash
"Don't worry Wailmer you'll be just fine" Bonnie said smiling softly as she got to work check Wailmer for any injuries and feeding him
After explaining everything to Ash and Alain and with their permission both trainers started with a preliminary survey around the island even asking the wild Pokémon for help. After four hours of searching they finally found the Wailmer's mother being hauled into a cage by people wearing dull Grey jump suits with a letter R on their chest around them there were all kinds of ice type Pokémon
