Quinton Prep has never seen a downfall. They have never seen someone fall from so high up the ladder, let alone their own Queen. Some say that she deserved it, that she's done so much of the devil's work, that she took over his seat. She was thought to be undefeatable, untouchable, a saint, a devil? But everything can be proven wrong in the span of a few hours, or even minutes.

Out of all the sinners there, she held the record. Guess they came back at her like a boomerang.

Isn't it funny? How fast everything changed? Maia Valentine thought so. Because even after that event, even after she fell face first into the bottom of the snake pit, not once did she cry or whine. She looked back, and smirked, Her matte lipstick covered lips curving slightly as she turned back around to keep moving forward. This is just how Maia is. She's vile, she's learned to love the worst things, and make them grow into something lovable to everyone else- even if her methods aren't the best.

Of course, this isn't to say she wasn't hurt, because she was. Deeply. Maia thought she found the one, she thought she found him. Though like usual, the world shifted under her feet, separating herself from the fairytale she thought she'd get.

Ryan Wellington. Classic rich boy, mesmerising looks and a smile that got the Queen to fawn. Everyone knew those two were perfect for each other - it's almost like everyone was there just for them. To see both of them bloom into something. They were each other's firsts for everything, and they were supposed to be each other's lasts and forever.

The students weren't the only ones that thought this, they did too. They thought that they had known each other for so long that not once would unloyalty come across their minds. Both Maia and Ryan thought that. But one person can influence a lot upon someone.

Brynn Ramirez was crowned princess freshman year of highschool almost straight after Maia was Queen. It was no secret that Brynn wanted the throne but she had no way of getting there without getting hurt herself. She was best friends with Maia, along with Ciana and Chloe, all four of them wouldn't hurt another of the elite. Not without reason.

Brynn knew Maia had power, lots of it. New York is the Valentine's city and there was no doubt about that. The Ramirez family had power of course, but compared to Maia's family, they were nothing but an ant they could step on. So she couldn't rely on her family status to keep her from falling too.

She also knew that Maia was smart. Not only book smart, but deviously smart when it came to scheming. Maia knew how to deal with everything in every way, and also executed it well enough for personal pleasure.

Maia knew how to play dirty, it was common knowledge among the elitist families. You can't get to the top without a few schemes and lies. Maia did just that. Brynn was by her side, but never did anything. She didn't know how.

Brynn couldn't accept the fact that Maia was just better at everything than her. So, Brynn let go of her morals and decided to play dirty. Maia has always played by her own games and her own rules - Brynn was playing by her rules. Now, she made her own game that she was destined to win.

Getting Wellington from a Valentine wouldn't be easy, but just because it doesn't come easily, doesn't mean she didn't need to try. Brynn wanted the crown and the throne, but a bonus would be the boy. Brynn wasn't the slightest bit interested in Ryan, she just wanted to have a little taste of the same fun that the Queen has. And Brynn did just that.

She got all of it. The Queen was ruined, Maia had nowhere to go but flee the scene. She gained the kingdom's attention, she got the crown on her head, the velvet throne, and the boy. Ryan fell out of love with Maia, and fell in love with Brynn.

Maia fell down the staircase that she climbed herself in Louboutin heels, and landed at the very bottom. She didn't and couldn't do anything, so she left. The Valentine family let her go to their private island for the summer, understanding every single word she said to them.

That was the last time anyone saw Maia Valentine.

Maia left without a trace. Not one text message got sent to her friends that deserved it. She was too humiliated to send one. So she did was what no one should ever have to.

Leave everything she thought she knew behind.
