" I would like to quit, I have to trouble the director for your signature."

If you feel even an ounce of guilt towards me, please just grant me this one thing.

Lu Feng's face visibly dimmed.

" You have read the contract. You should know how much the penalty for early termination is, is it an amount you can afford ?" He used a business-like tone, " You don't have it, so get back to work."

I placed a paper envelope on the desk: " Please tally the amount."

The possibility of someone intentionally defaulting on the employment agreement is almost non-existent and so the outrageous amount set for liquidated damages almost bankrupted me. The envelope contained all the savings I have since the day I put aside my first dollar. Little did I know that all these hard earned, disciplined savings would one day be used for such an honourable purpose.

" You came fully prepared." He glared at the envelope, " What do you want me to do ? Do you want me to beg you on my knees ? ! !"

" I am only here to hand in my resignation." Please just treat it as a kind deed, throw me a signature and let me out. I do not know how much longer I can stand here.

He inhaled sharply, refusing to speak another word while he furiously tried to suppress his temper, which turned out be in vain as he exploded: " Am I really not worthy of forgiveness? Any normal man have physical needs, you are a man too, surely you can understand ?"

" Or are you telling me that you remained chaste for me throughout these years ? Besides me, no other men has touched you ? !" He raised his eyes revealing a scowl, " If that is the case, I will do anything you asked of me. Let you go or kowtow to you, as long as you say it, I will do it."

I thought of Qin Lang. And kept my mouth closed.

Not answering is the clearest, irrefutable answer. Lu Feng sneered at me: " So what right do you have to criticise me ?"

My mind could not be in a bigger mess.

" What kind of men did you sleep with ?" The question dripping with cruelty, " Are they better than me in bed? How many have you had in these past five years, hey ?"

" It's none of your business."

I have never rebutted him directly before, Lu Feng was severely taken aback.

" Who do you think you are? What rights do you have butting into my business? How many men I had before, how is that any of your concern? Why? You really want to know, too bad I can't even remember myself! Did you honestly think I am stupid enough to wait for you for five years? Did you think you would be the only one in my heart? Or do you think that every time I had sex with a man I will scream out your name? Do you think I am an idiot? Stop dreaming ! Any random one of them is ten times better than you, they have more ways of fucking me then you ever did, and you think you were so great.........."

" PA ! "

A crisp and loud slap across my face left me stunned and broken like a wooden puppet with its strings cut.

A taste of blood in my mouth. His brute strength...... is really massive.

I am not surprised to be beaten, he never had a good temper. Even when we were in a relationship, he was never a gentle and giving lover, not to mention now.

" What are you doing ?"

I was pressed down firmly on his desk, items scattering everywhere onto the floor in the struggle.

He tore off my pants like a beast, and with a crazed strength pulled apart my thighs, entering me brutally.

" You're crazy ! !" This development was beyond all my expectations, and beyond what I can endure.

I put up an all out fight, " You bastard ! Let go of me ! You animal, animal............"

He did not respond, only raising his hand to reward me with another resounding slap.

My head tilted to the side, numbed with pain. It took me a while to recover my breath. I hissed out the words: " Lu Feng, I will hate you forever."

" Go ahead." That was all he said.

He started thrusting mercilessly. My voice choked in my throat, the pain so intense that my eyes turned bloodshot, bitting down hard on my lips, a small guttural sound escaping from it.

I did not protest further, digging my fingers onto the desk, bending them so hard my nails almost broke.

I could not process when it ended. A dead silence that follows felt like an eternity.

I was in a state of mental disorientation, staring at the white ceiling with unfocused eyes, not able to distinguish the look on his face even if I tried.

" Xiao Chen." There were not a trace of familiarity in that voice.

" Xiao Chen, Xiao Chen........." he repeated in a monotonous tone, sluggish and dull.

The phone rang, I took the chance to close my eyes.

" I'm not going! I don't care how important it is! ..................... Don't you disturb me again." He slammed down the phone. It rang again almost immediately.

" Do you not understand when I told you to piss off ! .......... I can't split at the moment ! ! ........ You can fucking handle it whichever way you deem fit ! ! ! ........... A wheezing respiration replaced the verbal altercation as he quietly listened to the person on the other end, and hung up the phone.

" Xiao Chen."

I did not move, my eyes tightly closed.

His hands moved clumsily over my messy clothes in an attempt to tidy them: " I will be out for a while, be good and wait for me, don't move about. ......... I will be back in a short while, ok ?"

I appeared to be asleep, or I could be dead, completely lifeless.

The door to the office room closed softly.

I rested for a while, got up and dressed myself slowly, pushed the door open and walked out.

Several people stared at me at the train station, probably never seen a person with such ridiculous swollen cheeks, clothes disheveled, empty-handedly pouring out all the small change in his pockets to purchase a train ticket, what a curious sight.

I sat down in reverie waiting for the train.

This must be the end. All of a sudden, I recalled the blind fortune teller's recounting of my life destiny. He could not be more accurate. I should have awarded him more money back then, and thank him, instead of treating him as a swindler even insulting him by giving him a can of soda as payment.

Unfortunately I had been a dimwit and did not heed his warning. Before today, I have been living the life of a fool.
