"Love is waiting for you but you must do your part."

18th of February
Josie Venturi

I walk into the empty room alongside a man dressed in a suit, who is also holding my hand. As I look down at my clothes I notice that I'm wearing a white dress, a wedding dress to be specific. Once I look back up, the empty room is filled with beautiful chandeliers and flowers hanging from the ceiling. The man beside me turns me so I'm looking at him, his face is too dark for me to see. "I do," he repeats over and over again while the room becomes brighter and brighter, slowly fading into the image of my room.

Outside, the sun is bright against the settled snow making me squint as I open my eyes. I should really consider getting blinds.

I fight the desire of going back to sleep and force myself up. I proceed to take a hot shower, brush my teeth and apply a small amount of makeup before leaving my hair down. I wear an emerald green suit with some strappy white heels and put a black fur jacket on top.

I greet the doorman, Oscar, as I make my way out. I've left my apartment earlier than usual since I need to clean my office.

Snow crunches under my feet, it's quieter than usual. Little children run around in their big coats on the way to school and birds chirp, nevertheless it's calm. Better than the usual noise from the busy New York traffic.

In around fifteen minutes I reach the building. Ever After. I've been working here for four years, ever since I moved here. I'm certain that I spend more time here than I do at my apartment.

As soon as I open the doors I'm enveloped by a burst of warmth and the sweet smell of waffles and pastries. "Char, how come you're here so early?" I ask our receptionist.

"I figured I'd leave some breakfast in the conference room since apparently no one has breakfast before they get here," she explains.

"That's true, I didn't have breakfast, thank you for being so considerate. I'll take the tray to the conference room," I tell her as I take the tray and make my way to the elevator.

It's quiet since no one is here yet. The elevator reaches the second floor and I walk down the empty hallway, placing the tray on the large conference table. I take one of the pastries before walking to the break room and making myself some coffee.

I make my way back to the elevator, press the button to the third floor and walk through the hallway to my office. Taking a seat on my office chair, I turn on my laptop and have my coffee in silence.

I drag my finger across the touchpad until the mouse is on the Spotify icon. However, my eyes divert to a familiar file, 'my wedding'. I drag the mouse the mouse there and click on it.
