J U G H E A D

The school day had just ended and Jughead was on his way home, but he was stopped by a large group of serpents he called friends.

"Hey Jug, we're going to the Wyrm, you wanna come?" Sweet pea asked, Jughead shook his head 'no'
"Sorry Sweet pea. I can't" Jughead said and carried on walking, Sweet pea followed behind him.

"Why not? You ain't got anything better to do, have you?" Sweet pea asked , Jughead sighed in annoyance.
"Yeah, I have. I'm going on a date, maybe some other time" Jughead mumbled and walked a little faster until he got home.

Jughead went straight to his room and pulled out his phone, dialing Bettys phone number and waiting.
It rang two or three times before she picked up, her soft voice ringing threw his ears.

"Hey Jug" he could feel her sweet smile on the other side of the phone, he smiled too.
"Hey Betty" their conversation went on for hours.

He told her where he was taking her and she teased him about being a romantic, he told her he was a bad boy, she laughed at him, he told her how much he loves her laugh.

When Jughead's dad got home, he told Betty he'd see her in about an hour. He hung up and threw his phone on his bed, walking out into the living room, he saw his dad.

"Hey dad, how was your day?" He asked, his dad looked over at him and smiled.
" It was good Jug, what about you? You look happier than usual" Jughead couldn't help but smile.

"I actually have a date" he smiled like an idiot and his dad couldn't help but smile too.
"Who's the lucky lady?" His dad asked, leaning his back against the kitchen counter.
"Betty Cooper" his cheeks flushed a light pink and his dad felt so happy for him.

"That's fantastic, Jughead. I'm so glad your happy. You better keep this girl around" his dad joked, walking into the living room and sitting on the couch.

"Well, I better get ready, I'm picking her up in about an hour" he said, disappearing back into his room.

He dug threw his closet. He didn't want too  dress to formal in case she was dressed casual, but he didn't want to dress too casual in case she was dressed formal.
He found a pair of black jeans and tried them on with his 'S' shirt. It was too dark, too casual.

He found a pair of blue jeans and tried it on with a white shirt and flannel. It looked nothing like him. He took that off and ran his fingers threw his hair.

He looked for anything decent but groaned when he found nothing 'first date worthy'.
He grabbed a pair of faded grey jeans and his 'S' shirt, he grabbed his dark red checkered flannel and put that on.
He looked at himself in the mirror. It wasn't perfect, but it would have to do.

He looked at the time, 7:49 he quickly grabbed his beanie and sprayed a little deodorant on, just in case he smelt bad.
He put on his beanie as he ran out the door, "bye, dad, I'm gonna be late. I'll be home by 10" he called to his father as he closed the door behind him.

As soon as Betty got home she started rummaging threw her draws looking for the perfect outfit.
She must have gone threw twenty outfits by the time Jughead called, and by the time the call ended, she only had an hour to get ready.

She pulled out a yellow sweatshirt that fit her really well and tried it on with some light blue jeans, it was good enough.
She looked at the time, 7:50.
Quickly she straightened her hair and let it sit perfectly on her shoulders.

As Jughead rang the doorbell, Betty felt her heart racing. She ran downstairs before her mom could open the door and was face to face with Jughead.

He looked like he didn't put any thought into his outfit, just pulled something out, put it on and knew he looked perfect.
Betty smiled at him shyly.

"Hey there, Juliet " he said quietly. She blushed. "You ready to go?" He asked, she nodded and he held out his hand, she giggled as she took it.

They pulled up to pop's and sat in a booth close to the back, pop came and took their orders, two burgers, two fries, one chocolate milkshake and one vanilla.

Betty didn't know what to say, she was at a loss for words when it came to Jughead.
"If I haven't told you already. You look gorgeous" he said with a soft smile.

" Thank you, Juggy. You don't look to bad yourself" 'not to bad' was the understatement of the year, he was God like. He looked like he had been chiseled from stone. He smiled shyly at her complement.

"So, Cooper. Tell me more about yourself" Jughead said curiously. Betty thought for a minute.

"Uh, I mean. I'm pretty boring but okay" she said, "Kevin has been my best friend for like, four years maybe. We were both bullied, so we had something in common" she said clearly uncomfortable. "Anyway, uh he was pretty much my only friend besides you, but we were friends when we were five then we stopped hanging out, so" she finished, Jughead nodded.

"What about your family?" He asked curiously. Betty visibly tensed, "oh, you don't have to--"

"No, no, it's fine. It's just... My dad was never around and when I was fifteen he moved in with his new wife in New York and my mom... Started drinking. My sister Polly stayed home to cook and clean and run the register, poor Polly. She didn't deserve what happened to her" Betty said that last part more to herself.

Jughead reached out and held her hand, "Oh Betty, I'm so sorry" before he could talk some more the waiter came back with their food and placed it in front of them.
