The Bullet Code: Digits through the Signal

The man of focus pretends to be rummaging on the desk after a hardened expression for George's statement called the attention of the people in the room.

"Is he your friend, son?" the Director inquired at the same time I remembered that George's dad is a high ranking official of the police force for George to search into the 'Lee' files.

"I think so. This is a good place to meet someone of that sort." the Director's son answered.

It made the Director greet me, "Nice to see you here." 

"You too, Sir." I respond with a smile even if the Director have given me a half one.

If these two are related with each other, I stand a chance. Knowing George's attitude towards the cases and to Henry, I can manipulate him to help me with my situation through his father.

In fact, due to desperation I decided to not beat around the bush, "I deeply apologize because I didn't explain why I am here. A friend of mine was found dead hours ago and I was caught by the police in the unit of the man where the corpse is found."

I produced an anxious tone, "The police here asks me questions that point to only one direction which is if I kill that man. He didn't ask further like where I was before, where's the murder weapon which can't be extracted in the scene and-"

"Ay! Pasensya na ho kung madaldal ang isang ito. Pwede na ho kayo umuwi Director." Abot pisngi ang ipinaabot na ngiti ng officer matapos niyang takpan ang bibig ko.

"No. Remove your hand. I want to listen." George interjected. He shoo-ed the hand but the officer didn't listen. The Inspector and Director both stared curiously.

"Hindi niya pa naman alam kung ano ang sinasabi-" Hihirit pa sana ito kung hindi pinigilan ng Inspector.

"Romulo, ibaba mo na 'yan."

When the Inspector warned him, he removed his hand and I'm free to talk once again.

"He said that I will stay here for the mean time but because of what they think I did, my parents would be blamed for, at korte ang unang bagsak ng kaso namin." I didn't want to look at the officer who must be pretty scared now.

"So you were saying you are mistreated here. My my, what a great news. They didn't attain an investigation before identifying the man? Such a shame. Is this how your people work Dad?" George simplifies the matter at hands. It turned out, I made a wise decision to consult them.

The Director and Inspector aren't moved by it, however. They pore over the three of us.

"Is this true, Officer Romulo? You already arrived at arresting this person without proper conductance of investigation?" Like a prey caught by the snake, George flashed his eyes to the poor officer who can't bring a proper gaze.

Finally, the Dad spoke through the silence, "This is not the time for that, son. Officer Romulo here is doing his job. I will try to investigate the matter and if I ever found proof that the police here do not give proper treatments to witnesses or possible suspects, I will at once-"

I didn't fail to see the Inspector flinching, "Romulo! Hindi ba't sinabi ko na sa 'yo na ayusin mo ang trabaho mo?"

"Pero Inspector, kayo ang nagsabi na-"

The Inspector quickly washed his hands and put the blame to Romulo using a disgusted look spread on his face. He walked towards the officer and gave him a blow. We didn't expect this from him although he revived the atmosphere like nothing happened at all, "Pagpasensyahan niyo na ang bata ko, Director. Hayaan niyo at pagsasabihan ko ito."
