Another Selection

Chapter 1 - The Selection

"Haha, well I hope you like some of the selected. Now time for the selected."

The screen went white and in the corner was a box with Prince Oliver's face in it.

"First we have, miss Sherry Williams of Hansport."

She was a brunette with brown eyes. She was really pretty. Oliver smiled but it looked fake.
33 other girls were called.

"And last but not least we have Ariel Noel of Carolina."

I stopped breathing my mother was cheering and Angel was jumping up and down. I looked at Oliver's reaction it might have been just me but he looked every happy when my picture came up.

"So everyone those are the Selected. Prince Oliver, did you like what you saw?" Gavril said.

"Yes, I did especially one girl caught my eye."

"Which one?"

"That's for me to know and you to find out."

Gavril laughed.

The phone started to ring and it never stopped. In one week I'll be in a palace. Woah.
My little brother, Tommy came up to me one day. He was 6.

"Ariel. Are you really leaving me?"

"I'm sorry Tommy but I have to. I'll miss you like crazy."

"Will you say hi to me on tv?"

"I'll see what I can do."

I kissed the top of his head and pulled him into a hug. I really am going to miss him.

~One week later~

I'm leaving for the airport today. I put on the assigned outfit: black pants and a plain white shirt. I put on my black flats and put a lily in my hair: my province flower. A car was waiting to pick me up along with my family. We drove to where I'll be departing.

"Good morning Carolina. Today we are sending off the lovely Ariel Noel. We all hope she wins and becomes the princess of Illeá." Our mayor announced to the crowd waiting for me to depart.

"Do you want to say a few words?" He whispered into my ear.

I nodded.

"Good morning Carolina. I hope to make you proud and I'll miss everyone here and if I become the princess I want to thank everyone of you guys. I love you all. Thank you!" I said confidently even though I was shaking inside.

"Well said, miss Ariel. You can now say goodbye to your family."

I walked over to my family and hugged my mom first.

"Dear I know Prince Oliver will love you. Remember not to he caught up in the competition. Be a lady. Don't sink to some peoples level. I love you and when you become princess don't forget about us."

"I won't mom. I love you." I kissed her cheek and went over to my dad.

"Hey daddy. I'm going to miss you."

"I'll miss you too. Follow your heart."

"I will daddy." I kissed his cheek before going to Angel.

She basically jumped into my arms.

"I'm going to miss you so much, Ariel. I love you. Talk me up to Prince Thomas." I laughed at her.

"I'm going to miss you too. I'll try and talk to Prince Thomas for you."

She blushed. Last I went to Tommy. I crouched down so I could look at him. He was holding onto his teddy bear he has had since he was born.

"I'm gonna miss you the most Tommy. Just don't tell the others. I love you."

"I'm going to miss you too. Here take Teddy with you." He said as he put his teddy bear into my arms.

"Are you sure?"

He nodded his head and I pulled him into a hug. I felt the tears come but I couldn't cry now. I pulled away and kissed his head. I stood up and fixed my clothing.

"Ready?" The mayor asked me.

"Ready as I'll ever be." I straightened my posture and sat in the car waiting for me.

The driver drove to the airport. I was the first girl there. 3 other girls are going to be traveling with me. I sat there for 15 minutes when two girls walked in. I recognized right away. Rose Levera of Tammins and Teacup Lala of Dominca.
They walked up to me.
"Hi, my names Ariel."

"Hi!" Rose said and gave me a huge hug.

"Rose, right?" I asked her and she nodded her head.

"Teacup, right?" I asked the other girl.

"Yes, and you're Ariel."

I nodded my head. Rose and I talked about our lives back home when a girl came in. Lucille Rich of Paloma.

"Hi, I'm Ariel." I said when she reached us.

"When is the plane leaving?"

"I don't know we were waiting for you." Rose answered.

Lucille popped her gum and put her sunglasses over her eyes.
I looked at Rose and we both almost burst out laughing. I could tell we were going to be friends. Finally a man came and told us it's time to board the plane. We walked onto the plane and took our seats. I was terrified of heights.

"Are you ok, Ariel?" Rose asked me.

"I'm terrified of heights."

She nodded her head.

"I'm going to sleep." I said.
I leaned my chair back and fell asleep. I woke up to Rose's face like two inches from mine.

"We're here!" She squeeled.

I sat back up and unbuckled myself. I stood up and got my back back I took with me. With some pictures, Teddy, simple jewelry, and other things that remind me of home.

We got off the plane and was met with screams. I looked around and there were hundreds of people. People held up posters for who they want to win and I couldn't help but try to spot any fans of me. I saw quite a few, which surprised me.

I walked into the building and it muffled the cheers of the fans. We walked to another car waiting to take us to the palace. There were even more fans outside.

"Did you bribe them or something?" Lucille asked me.

"Huh?" I said confused.

"Majority of people are cheering for you."

"And?"

"How did you do it?"

"I entered the selection."

She just rolled her eyes and tried to find some fans of hers. There were some but not a whole lot. We finally arrived at the palace and got out. As soon as we stepped inside there were dozens of people running around. This is going to be an interesting experience.
