"oh alex and sierra, we better get going we have a busy day ahead of us!" mrs. dallas echoed through the doors.
cameron was still in the bathroom, while i was in the living room scrubbing into the carpet. i went back to my room, to change into a tee and tights.
"oh alexa, what are you possibly doin'?" my mother asked me as everyone came into the living room.
"i split the lemonade.." alexa tilted her head down, scrubbing the carpet.
"and how did that happen?"
i looked at cameron, but before he spoke up, i decided to take the blame. "the hem of my dress, pushed it down. i'm really sorry mother, i didn't mean too-i promise"
cameron looked at me and back to the adults. my mother nodded in agreement, as she helped me off the floor.
"oh why don't you go get dressed up again?" my mother, picked me making me climb back upstairs.
as a small discussion took place, i sat on the top step watching them leave. walking into my bedroom, i watched from my window.
sierra hugged my mother, and cameron looked up trying to find something. once he found my window, he saw me giving me a glance then turned around. he turned back around, giving me a wink before catching back up to his mother and his car.
as their car became a dot, i decided to freshen up. once i was done taking a shower, i grabbed my overalls running down stairs into the bathroom to renew my bandage.
down by the stairs was my father in his casual farmers outfit.
"father what were they doing here?" curiosity crept up on me, as he looked at my freshly wrapped hand.
"those people are paying good money to use our ranch, so don't question it honey. let's go feed the animals" my father smiled, holding my back patting it.
"is nash going to be there?" i asked. nash was our neighbor, who would occasionally stop by to help out. he had a younger brother and sister, who would ride out with him since she really enjoyed the animals.
"i wouldn't count on it but who knows?" my father pulled out the bucket filling it with grains for the chickens.
"i'll check on the horses, feed the chickens and your mother will deal with the pigs" he said, passing me the bucket. i don't mind this job at all since i'm home schooled and don't go out much.
with a familiar voice in the distance, i automatically realized nash stopped by. he was the closest i had to a friend- so i was thankful for him.
"alexa!" nash ran towards me causing me to drop the bucket running into his grip.
"how's sky and hayes?" i used sky for short.
"they've been going great, how are you? i heard your father is letting these city folks borrow the farm for some show. its the week of your birthday though?" he rolled up the sleeve to his red flannel.
"i know but it's for the best!" i yelled rather loud, trying to control my anger. my birthday was a strict family day and i couldn't picture doing something other than that!
"calm down cupcake" nash patted my head, instantly wrapping me into a hug.
"how'd you get here anyways?" i mumbled in-between his chest.
"i took my ole cadillac for a run" nash smiled pointing at his vintage red cadillac that was parked near the barn.
"let's go for a drive?" nash suggested as i nodded running to feed the chickens really quickly.
"here let me help" nash picked up the bucket of grain throwing small pieces of grain in the chicken coops.
"thanks" i said unraveling my hair from my bun.
"let's go my lady?"
"we shall" i linked arms with nash walking towards his car.
"where are you think you two are going?" my mother passing by asked.
"going for a run, don't worry i'll keep little lexa safe" nash wrapped an arms around my shoulder messing my hair up.
"uh-fine don't be back too late!" my mother smiled and waved as nash drove up the road.
"let's see how well this bad boy drives!" nash rubbed his hands and stepped on the gas pedal. speeding through the empty road, the barn became smaller and smaller from a distance. this was probably the furthest i went when i realized the barn was gone.
"hey what's that?" after driving for five straight minutes, a black car that looked quite familiar was pulled towards the curb.
"it looks like a car, hold on" there were people outside and as nash slowly passed them my eyes popped out my eye socket.
"should i turn the car around?" nash questioned.
"no" i said bluntly. once i spoke that one word nash turned the car around 180° looking back at them.
"what's the problem?" nash said looking at the driver, while i tried hiding my face from cameron.
"flat tire, and there's no signal to gather help" the driver explained while cameron smirked.
"you can come with us and we'll take you back to the farm" nash offered them, making me hold my head looking at the side mirror on my side. after a few, cameron appeared on it winking.
"why thank you so much!" mrs. dallas cheered, as she boarded nash's vintage car.
"not a problem at all mam" nash answered and waited as the driver loaded the trunk with their stuff.
"maybe we could stay over night, perhaps? it takes a while to get back" sierra spoke out causing cameron to cough.
as the driver squeezed into the back we we're ready to leave.
"hold on tight"
