I blink. It must've been my imagination. It had to be.
Bust a minute later, I see it again- the flash of colour.
No no no no no. This cannot be happening. They can't be here.
The cameras will see them. I'll be a witness. I'll be interrogated. They'll see how my brainwaves are different from everyone else's, they'll measure my fear.
If they have to... they'll torture me. And it won't be long before everything comes spilling out...
I set my face into a mask of calm, but I'm on the verge of a panic attack.
I remember something that happened... what? Two months ago?... this teenage girl broke down crying in the middle of the street. Everyone ignored her, carrying on with their mindless compliance of a life. Except for an older girl, who rushed over and started comforting her, telling her to calm down and get up. Then... two small, silent bullets. One in each of their heads. They died in plain view of an entire city and no one batted an eyelid.
The streets are still empty. I don't know what else to do. I follow the colour.
