There were discussions passing on through our group chat as we talked between the boys. The boys included Jay, Russell, Sal and me. We were all single and just wanting some sort of feeling for once. The type of feeling that'd leave you aching for something again.
Eventually, we came to the conclusion that we should pile money together to get alcohol and a cart. I was always the strange kid who was kept around because of his parents and confidence. We ran through these streets but no one knew us, and I still had all the confidence in the world.
Back then, when I was still had the charm of a silver tongued devil. I asked my parents if they could get some booze and everything went to plan. My phone was always buzzing with something, but there was something strange about it for the past while. I ignored it and continued my day until they arrived.
Sal and Jay had already gone to pick up the cart. Hell I didn't know what it was until I looked it up. It was concentrated marijuana without a smell within a machine. We decided to save it for later and my parents took us to the Grocery store to buy Smirnoffs.
Why Smirnoffs? We figured they'd allow us more of a tolerance when it came down to getting the hard liquor later. We made our purchases with my mother upfront, and called my girlfriend telling that I'd be busy that night.
I felt like something was missing where I had to tell someone something. It didn't matter much to me anyways so I continued on with my night. We arrived at my house after we acquired the hard liquor and pizza. We just sat there watching horror movies for no real reason.
Russell and I broke out the first beers and drank them. "I like this more than the taste of any other beer" Russell exclaimed as he drank. "Probably be best to keep this as a standard then" Jay added. "Whatever the case may be, I think tonight is when we get fucked up" I said as I pulled out double shot glasses.
Sal poured the shots and we all got together. We had a toast to being friends forever and that the distance wouldn't ever matter. "I think it's time that we pull out" I suggested as the alcohol still hadn't hit me yet. Jay pulled out the 'Cali' cart from his pocket, and decided to let me have the first go.
I took it and started to inhale, but the result I got was unexpected. It was too smooth so afterwards, I started coughing to the point I nearly threw up. "That bad huh?" Russ asked. "No, I just didn't expect it" I said as I coughed.
They all started to hit one by one as we made jokes about the Vitamin E we were inhaling. The feeling began at the top of my forehead and crept down to the bottom of my neck. The lights became more and more vibrant as the music just made us feel different.
That was the night when our friendships were the simplest. We just ate, drank, and smoked. We didn't deal, we didn't ignore, and we were still the same kids from before.
