The man laughed
<<You remember their name?>>
<<I'm that good>> The woman gloated, making him laugh even more.
Then, his countenance changed, and he stepped a little closer, taking her hands in his
<<I'm glad you're alright, Y/N. I was really worried>>
<<You were?>>
<<Hey, don't be so surprised; you know I care about you?>>
She blushed
<<Yeah, sorry. I...>>
He chuckled, lifting a hand to cup her chin and raise it so their gazes met. Y/N felt her heartbeat accelerate so much that she was sure he could hear it
<<I do care about you, Y/N. More than you can know>>

The girl's cheeks were on fire

<<I... I care about you too, Red>>
<<Not as much as I do for you>> He snickered
<<I wouldn't say that>>
<<Oh really?>> He challenged.
The problem was... Y/N just couldn't resist a good challenge.
Just like that, she stood on her tiptoes and pressed her lips against his, closing her eyes both to avoid seeing his expression and to savour the moment better.

It was over in a blink, but there was no doubt that it did happen: the pleasant tingle on her lips was a telltale sign tha could not be ignored.
When she took a good look at him, Y/N felt her stomach sink with worry: he had wide eyes, and his mouth was agape, even if just slightly.
Well, he had not pulled away. At least.

Once more, the silence instantly became intolerable. Y/N opened her mouth and words flowed out of it, without logic or sense
<<Uh, Red, listen. I- You- You see, I->>
She could say no more because in a split second he'd crashed his lips to hers, clamping his hands on her hips and pulling her closer.
To say that she was surprised would be the understatement of the year; her eyes widened so much, Y/N was sure she looked like a cartoon character, but she managed to close them and enjoy the moment, letting her own hands rest on his shoulders.
It was like a dream come true: Red was there, with her, and he was kissing her.
He. Was. Kissing. Her!

When they pulled away, still not breaking their embrace, both the Captain and Y/N bit their lips, but it did not stop the humongous smiles that twisted them up
<<I really wouldn't say that, Red>>
<<Do I need to kiss you again to make you understand just how much I like you?>>
Y/N giggled
<<Indeed, an encore would be very much appreciated, yes>>
He chuckled and leaned in.
She waited with bated breath.
However, just when they were about to kiss- for the third time. The young woman felt giddy just at the thought- a loud crash resounded through the apartment, and they hastily pulled apart.
The Captain immediately pushed her behind him while Y/N picked up her trusty headboard, but when they noticed the newcomers, they relaxed and chortled a little

<<Guys, he's around here, I'm sure>>
<<Isn't this->>
<<Look! Gormin Sailors! He's been here, I'm sure!>>
<<Obviously, Don>>
<<You->>
<<Captain!>> Ahim cried out when she saw Captain Marvellous.
The rest of the gang turned around too
<<Hey! You're alright!>>
<<Yes, I am>>
They rushed toward him, giving him worried once-overs
<<We were worried! Why did you->>
<<You were worried, Luka>>
<<Shut up, Don>>
<<Why did you leave on your own?>>
Now that was a good question.
As Ahim stared at him with her doe eyes, Red found himself at a loss for words.
What was he supposed to say?

<<Guys, I think I found the explanation we were looking for>> Joe announced.
Red winced, but it was too late.
The three remaining Gokaigers concentrated their attention to where Joe was pointing: there, in all her dishevelled and headboard-armed glory, stood Y/N, her cheeks still aflame from what had transpired just a few moments earlier in that very same room.

That was the last second of calm the two could enjoy. The four friends instantly broke out into sharky grins, their gazes going back and forth from her to their Captain
<<You dog you!>>
<<You wanted to play Prince Charming and rescue the damsel in distress!>>
<<How noble of you!>>

<<Stop it guys>> The Captain groaned, hiding his face in his hands.
In response, the four held hands and began a teasing chorus <<Y/N and Red, sitting in a tree...
K-I-S-S-I-N-G!>>

There was no stopping them.
They continued, unperturbed, with their ridiculous ring-a-ring-a-roses, while Y/N was certain her face had turned the colour of ripe cherries
<<Y/N?>>
She startled a little, but the sweet small smile the Captain gave her when their eyes met was so contagious that it not only calmed her, but also brought one on her own lips
<<Yes?>>
<<Would you... Would you like to... Would you like to go on a date with me? Tonight?>>
The young woman mustered every single ounce of self-control in her body to refrain from breaking out in a happy-dance. Miraculously, she managed to resist the urge.
Grinning widely, she sidestepped an alien lying on the floor to reach Red, wrapping her arms around his neck and pecking her lips
<<I would love to>>
