Leta just stood there awkwardly. "Leta, you might as well head home. I want you back in an hour." Celeste ordered Leta, who looked grateful for that. She eagerly walked away leaving Celeste and the team alone.
"Mr. Potter, i hope your team is ready for an ambush." Celeste spoke up, making the black haired man nod his head. Charlus was now head of the team of hit witch and wizard
"They are ready for anything at this point, Mrs. Scamander. Who are we ambushing though?" Charlus asked, scrunching his brows.
"Grindelwald." Celeste answered, earning a chain of whispers. "How did you manage to convince Fawley? I almost got fired yesterday for arguing with him." Charlus asked, flabbergasted.
"I have no idea. I just came back to a team of aurors. But I want more hands on this issue. It might be our only shot at capturing him, and not fuck it up." Celeste said, her eyes and expressions were grim.
Everybody exchanged a look. "Go home, and do whatever you have. We leave in an hour." Celeste informed the group.
Some of them looked scared, and some were conflicted. Celeste felt sympathy for them. It can be a do or die mission. And the probability of them dying was higher than them coming back alive.
"I won't lie to you and tell you that I am not scared, because I am. You can back out of this mission if you like. Grindelwald knows no mercy, and had the first hand impression of that. But remember, the future of our wizarding world is on us. It may be our last chance to end this all, and if we don't act on it, it could be the end of everything we know." Celeste spoke up, addressing the crowd.
Everyone looked at each other in uncertainty but nobody moved. They all looked ready to face their fears. If not now, then when?
"We won't leave you to face him alone. He has destroyed everyone's peace. You have our support." One of the hitwizard spoke up, bravery reflected in his eyes.
Celeste gave them a reassuring smile. "Then let's get this son of a bitch." Celeste said, granting a cheer from her hitwitch and hit wizard team before everyone dispersed.
There were people who just joined the department, and there were people who were there from the start. Bidding goodbye to families was a first time thing for some aurors, and it is common for some others.
As the hall emptied with everyone hastily making their way towards the floo network, so they could go home. Charlus looked at Celeste. "I will head home. Need to say goodbye to my wife and my child." Charlus said, gulping down the bile that rose up.
Celeste approached him and engulfed him in a hug, resting her head on his shoulder. "Nothing will go wrong, Charlus." Celeste whispered, patting his back.
They pulled back before going to their respective homes. Celeste was sure that something was waiting to be unfold in Paris with the amount of anxiety she was going through.
She entered her office to grab her things, and looked around her office. Shr hoped it won't be the last time she is seeing her office. She looked at the photo frame that sat on her darkwood desk.
It was from Newt and her's vacation after their wedding. They both were looking at the camera, laughing and carefree. She stared at it for a moment before grabbing her satchel that she left here before visiting Dumbledore.
She stepped into her fireplace and arrived at her house. She was greeted with silence. The creatures probably are in their habitats instead of being loose in the house.
Maybe Bunty is still here doing her work. Celeste thought to herself before moving towards her room. She quickly discarded her satchel on the bed and went to her closet. She removed black shirt and formal trousers, and her black leather traveling coat. She quickly changed into them.
