Natsu Dragneel, the top student at Fairy tail high! With excellent test grades, constant A's and a heart of gold.  Never an assignment late and always completed! He was the perfect student!

But Natsu Dragneel was also the school's loner. The outcast, the emotionless machine that parades around the school, dodging everyone and every event possible.  Everyone always wondered why the pink-haired man always got away with so much crap. Like why he didn't help with the school festival or didn't show up to pep rallies. Most kids that attended Fairy Tail High always just assumed he was a teacher's pet and some dared even say that Natsu did 'special' favors for teachers that allowed him special privileges. Most people just avoided him, they assumed that he always thought of himself as better and he didn't need low-lives in his life. So it was safe to say that Natsu didn't have many friends. Actually, he didn't have any.

Natsu is a junior at Fairy Tail High (FTH) and has not once, made a friend. There's always this blonde-haired girl trying to talk to him but so far, he's managed to avoid her, sometimes.  He doesn't understand why she can't just leave him alone! Probably just another bully..but, well, she doesn't seem like the type...

Laughter and hushed voices were around Natsu as he sat in his desk, waiting for the second period to start. World history wasn't that bad, he never understood why people complained about stuff like memorization. Then again, stuff like this came naturally to him now. Especially when nobody bothered him and just let him repeat dates in his head while he wore a blank mask.

It's not that he chose not to show emotions, it was that..well..he couldn't. He forgot how to show things like joy, sadness, disappointment.  Normal, human emotions, were foreign to him so his face always stayed blank, looking ahead. He didn't need emotions, they only complicated things. If he just did what he was told and listened, he wouldn't need to think about such useless things.

This was the reason he sat alone everywhere he went. Breakfast, classes, the schoolyard, lunch. He didn't hate it, he didn't like it. He didn't feel anything at all. If someone were to sit by him, he'd simply scoot over and continue to stare ahead, acting as if that person didn't exist.  It was fine, he didn't need anyone.

The bell had rung. The day went by and the school day had ended.

Natsu always had a simple schedule. Wake up at 6, get to school by 7, finish the day, go home, do homework, eat dinner, shower, sleep. Every day, the same old boring thing. With normal people, he was sure they would lose their mind but he was just...there.  Existing without purpose.

He wasn't always like this, he remembers that. He remembers being able to ..feel things but he doesn't exactly remember what brought those feelings. What used to bring him joy and happiness? What used to make him cry and feel remorse?

Natsu remembers an incident and he knows its that incident that caused him to be like this but..what was it exactly? His dad..but..what happened? His memory's fuzzy in that area. One thing he did remember holding a boy by his shirt collar and screaming at him, threatening to punch him while his fist was on fire.

Fire...

Natsu stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and stared at his hand with a blank expression, opening and closing his hand repeatedly.  Was his hand on fire..or did he imagine that part? He looked up again, staring at the cross sign, waiting for it to allow him to walk.

The boy..he remembered..but who was he?  Pale, cold skin, dark ocean-like eyes, navy blue hair, frost on the side of his face, eyes filled with anger and hatred but glowing playfully.  A soft child-like voice.

Who was he? and why did the thought of the boy make Natsu...feel...uneasy?  Was that the word?  What did that word even mean?

Natsu shook his head, walking across the street when he was finally allowed to. He took 2 steps before he felt a hand on his upper arm. He stopped and glanced down at the said hand, following it up with no emotion to land on the face of a blonde girl.

His voice came out blank. "Lucy,"

The girl named Lucy smiled brightly. "You remembered this time!"  Natsu said nothing, just faced front and kept walking, lucy's hand sliding down his arm in a way others would found flirtatious.  Lucy blinked twice. "H-hey, wait! Natsu! Wait up!" She jogged to catch up before falling into a comfortable pace at Natsu's side. She looked at him expectantly but his eyes remained forward, not even aware of her staring.

She tapped her chin and pretended to be in thought. "You knooooow~ most people would say hi when they see their friend!" Natsu looked at lucy, lips in a line, eyes holding no emotion before turning back forward and walking faster. Lucy groaned under her breath, "hmmp, punk.." She sighed before catching up again. "Fine, fine, you don't have to talk if you don't want too! Just, listen to me rant!"

She talked the whole way home. Her and Natsu lived in the same apartment complex so they usually walked home together. Lucy always tried her best to get the man to talk to her, she tried to see if he has any interests or even if he had a favorite color but Natsu always just stared blankly ahead and to lucy, it was normal, almost as if she could read his nonexistent expression.

"..and were apparently getting a new student! I heard he was from Lamia Scale! Do you know how cute the boys are in that school??? Well, the brothers at least..hmm.. oh! OH! What if, the new student is one of the ice brothers??"

Natsu looked at her. She laughed. "Oh don't look at me like that! I'm just saying its a possibility!"

They went their sperate ways. Lucy waved and called out a 'see you tomorrow' and Natsu had only nodded.

He walked into his house in silence. He lived with his uncle, Gildarts but usually, he was never home, this was one of those days. Natsu just went up to his room took out his homework. A new student...  Natsu blinked. Would he have to show this student around?  God, he hoped not. He could just not go..but mess up his perfect attendance schedule? No way!  Natsu glanced at the clock that read 9: 17..maybe he should call it a night...
