Chapter 29

"Who would do such a thing?" You gasped. 

Rantaro did bother responding to your gasp, he just continued looking at the body. You crouched down on the other side to observe at a closer distance. You looked at Himiko's fingers, noticing certain marks on them. 

"Rantaro, what do you think these marks are? They look like burn scars." You asked him. 

He glanced at Himiko's hands. "I'm not sure. Maybe we should look for some sort of evidence of a burn or something? Can you look around the room?" 

You nodded your head, you were feeling queasy after staring at Himiko's blood-soaked body anyway. You went over to Shuichi and Kaito who were investigating the dorm room itself. 

"Guys have you found anything interesting?" You asked. 

Kaito looked at you and gave you a thumbs up, "Of course we did! My sidekick here is doing great!" 

"Ah, (Y/N) there has been evidence of a struggle for sure. For one, the chair is knocked out of place, and there are even drops of blood there too. In fact blood is almost everywhere here, as if Himiko or the culprit kept dripping blood everywhere." Shuichi explained. 

"Why didn't she go straight to the door though?" You asked. 

Shuichi looked down, "I haven't figured that out yet. My guesses are that the culprit was blocking the door somehow though."

"Oh, and on top of all that, we found some weird scorch mark underneath Himiko's bed." Kaito added. 

You perked up, "Scorch mark? Show me." 

The pair led you to the side of Himiko's bed. You grabbed the flashlight that Shuichi had found earlier in Himiko's room and looked underneath the bed. You looked underneath the bed and there was a very small black mark. It looked as if something had exploded, or burned there but the object must've been small. 

You let out a sigh, "Well then this couldn't possibly have been what gave Himiko those burn marks, there's no blood underneath the bed, so she probably didn't go under it and I can't tell how old that mark is." 

Shuichi looked at you in surprise, "There were burn marks? I should probably investigate that as well." 

"Before you go, let me tell you my testimony of last night." You began to tell him how you stepped out and saw Angie leave Himiko's room. You also told him about what Angie said about having a 'girl's night out'. Shuichi bid you thanks and then walked away to investigate the body, as soon as he left Rantaro approached you again. 

"(Y/N), look what I found Himiko holding on to." Rantaro held out a green ribbon in his hands. 

You looked down at it, "Isn't that... Tenko's?" 

Rantaro nodded, "And if what you said to Shuichi is true, then it's entirely possible that she could've killed Himiko." 

Your eyes widened in realization, "No... Tenko? She loved Himiko I don't..." You trailed off, not knowing what to say. "Rantaro don't show this piece of evidence to anyone else unless absolutely needed. For all we know, this could be an attempt frame Tenko." 

Rantaro looked at you suspiciously, but hesitatingly agreed with what you said. "Did you find out anything else?" You ended up telling Rantaro what Shuichi told you. 

"So what now?" You asked him. "I'm not sure where we should investigate. Alibis are going to be unlikely since the murder happened at nighttime." This was so much easier in the game... 

"I was thinking of investigating the door, but perhaps you should go find Kokichi and start questioning people about alibis for this morning, and find out more about this 'girls night out'." Rantaro answered. 

The plan sounded reasonable to you, Rantaro was going to continue investigating with Shuichi and Kaito so he wouldn't be left alone. 

"Alright, I'll go find Kokichi."

Dang, investigations are long. I thought the investigation would only take up one chapter but.... I needed to break it up.
