Chapter 7: "Can you swap our classes for us?"

Start from the beginning

"You take the side of the cold-blooded vampire who conveniently left the girl he loved. If it weren't for Jacob, Bella would be rotting way in some alleyway, wallowing in self-pity." He said to me, a small grin forming on his face.

Now, I know that this is going to sound real clichéd, but it was the first time I got a good luck at him. He had dark brown hair, twinkling brown eyes and wore nerd glasses. I'd have to find out a way to find out if he really was a nerd.  Maybe we could get along then.

"And you take Jacob's side? What's he ever done to Bella besides making her feel guilty about loving Edward and not him?" I shot back. I wanted him to think so I could check him out in peace. You might marvel at insanity of the situation. I'm just trying to get away from my on/off crush and already checking someone else out. Hazel's right when she says I know nothing about love. Like, at all.

"How about we go with the fact that Jacob was the one who convinced Sam and his pack to give the Cullens a chance? Or may be that can just be ignored because it's every day that someone is ready to die for their love, isn't it?' he asserted, sarcasm dripping from his voice.

Great! He's sarcastic too. We could be good friends. May be more!

"Hun, I exchanged your classes and printed out new schedule so you're not confused. There's only five or so minutes of class left, so you should go walk to the lunch room now." The guidance counsellor said, interrupting our fandom war.

Nathan and I got up and took our schedules from her. I gave her a smile before walking out into the pleasant air.

"So the fact that Renesmee exists only because of Edward can be ignored?"  I asked him, now that we were out of the office.

"And the fact that Bella almost died while giving birth to her? I suppose that can be conveniently ignored, can't it?" he said.

"You forget that she's alive because of my cold-blooded vampire!" I fake-pouted. Nathan maybe a potential crush but I've loved Edward Cullen ever since Bella set her eyes on him!

His brown eyes twinkled with amusement and then he started laughing. Pretty soon both of us were laughing hysterically. I must say that it's the first time I set my guard down and spoken to a member of the opposite sex so freely.

I looked up to see that we had already reached the cafeteria. I scanned the area for four idiots who make living my life worthwhile. My eyes lit up when I saw Lauren sitting on our table. It meant Emmett had scored! Or was about to.

"Debate to be continued?" I asked him, smiling. He nodded his head.

"So Nathan, I guess I'll catch you later then?" I confirmed, to be polite and to make sure I was going to meet him again.

"I was, um, wondering, if I could, you know, have lunch with you guys. You know, since I'm new here. If you don't mind that is," he asked, a little shyly.

"Of course, you  can! How stupid of me for not noticing that before! Come along then!" I said without thinking. And then I mentally face-palmed myself. Allie and Adrian had been on my case to move on like forever! And now that I was bringing a guy along, the might just go ballistic. Honestly, they were more like mothers in such situations. My biggest worry was only that Emmett's reaction might not be that subtle.

"Um, Scarlett?" he asked, waving his arms in front of me. So I had zoned out in front of him. Great, going Scarlett!

"Hey guys, this is Nathan. He'll be having lunch with us today and hopefully everyday if we manage not to scare him off."  I said. Translation: tease me with Nathan and it's the last thing you do. I glared especially hard at Emmett, who was practically smirking now.
