Chapter 1: Noah

"Stop!" Noah yells and grabs my arm while I try to walk away. " What are you scared of??" He looks into my eyes with his soft brown ones that make me melt every time.

"No, I can't do this! I don't want to ruin our friendship" I look away so that I don't give in.

"I think that's already been done don't you think?" He places a hand on my cheek and turns my head toward him, looking straight into my eyes and can't help it.
"Look at me and tell me you don't want this." He says as he looks at my lips and comes closer.

I give up. Hiding my feelings all this time had my emotions boil over at this very moment and I could not help but touch my lips to his. I go weak at the knees and butterflies emerge in my stomach as I feel the world around me stop.

He kisses me back, and runs his hands down my face, holding my neck and then my waist. Feeling his touch has me intoxicated and I keep drowning more and more into this beautiful moment.

We stop kissing and look at each other. He stares at me in awe and says "Jo..."

"Yeah?" I ask confused. He never calls me Jo.

He smiles and comes closer to my ear and whispers "Wake up."

I look at him confused and he keeps repeating it while shaking me by the shoulders, louder and louder each time "Wake up!".

All of a sudden my eyes shoot open and I see that it was all a dream.

"Crap." I look around and see my mom by the door. I groan "mom! It's spring break! Why can't I sleep in?!"

"Honey, it's late. You need to wake up! It's not healthy to sleep in!" She walks down the hall and down the stairs.

I rub my eyes and realize I didn't wash off my eyeliner last night as I looked at my blackened fingers "now that's going to look pleasing." I mumble and hear the doorbell ring.

"Honey. It's Noah!" I hear a yell from downstairs and freeze. "Oh no."

Noah Paul. My best friend since kindergarten, the hottest and most popular guy at Oakridge High. He was always cute, but not so popular until high school.

His popularity began after a missed pass in basketball which lead him to shooting the winning goal in sophomore year. You know the drill after that.

More friends, everybody knows you, and hot girlfriend Katherine (who by the way is way to nice in your face but can be brutal when you turn around. Ugh) he deserves better. He deserves me.

By the time I snap out of the shock, I see Noah at my bedroom door. Shirtless and with swimming trunks on and a towel hanging over his neck. I can't help but stare, and then I realize I look like a mess. Too late.

He looks at me "Whoaaaaaa.... looks like someone got attacked by a raccoon last night!"

"Shut up, I forgot to remove my eyeliner." I hide my face, blush and start moving towards the bathroom at the other end of my room.

"Ooookay whatever" he chuckles "I told you to be ready by 10. I thought you'd be up."

Oh shit. I totally forgot about the pool party at Rose's, and totally forgot that I dreaded going and that Noah was picking me up today to take me there even though I can't swim.

"Noah, do I have to go? I can't even swim! What am I supposed to do at a pool party if I can't swim?" I close the bathroom door and begin to wipe my face off of the eyeliner ring around my eyes that made me cringe and regret being seen by him of all people!

I hear him step towards my bed and sit on it while he says "Anna, you need to socialize. I care about you and would hate to leave you behind when you have the opportunity to meet new people." I love that he calls me Anna. Everyone else calls me Jo, or Joanna.

I grab my toothbrush and say "Right! So, bringing an introvert to a party sounds like a great idea to socialize don't you think?"

"So? There are a bunch of other introverts coming to the party! You can hang with them! I used to be one too you know! I learned to socialize and boom! Look at me now." He says

"I actually liked it when you were not so popular. It was just us three. Mostly me and you." I mumble

Noah knocks on my door and says "Shower and come downstairs in ten. I'll go pick up Katherine and head right back to get you. You'd better be ready by then Anna banana!"
I hear his voice fading out as he runs down the stairs.
