"Tongue Tied"

Impressing people was a thing Kara had always wanted. She had always wanted to make people happy, everyone around her. Arguments had always made her sad and not feel well, so she'd always immediately tried to get them go away. Because of wanting to make people happy and to impress them, she always takes a lot of time figuring out what to wear. And especially one evening, she had a lot of struggles. She, her sister and a couple of friends wanted to go to a party, Kara had won her first Pulitzer prize, and they wanted to celebrate it. "Kara, come on, why does it always take you so long to get dressed?" Her sister came into the room, already dressed. She wore a tight petrol dress which complimented her skin and her dress. She leaned against the door frame and crossed her arms in front of her chest "You'd absolutely win a prize for taking the longest to get dressed." Alex giggled and earned an eye roll from her little sister before she answered "I just want to look good!", which made Alex giggle even more "You always look good, Kara! You look fantastic, okay?" She pushed herself away from the door frame to gently grab her sister's arm. "You know you don't have to dress up super fancy to impress Lena, right?" Kara hadn't told her sister about the feelings she had developed for Lena. "I-I don't dress up for-" but Alex interrupted her. "Don't you dare trying to convince me that you aren't in love with Lena! That's the funniest thing I've heard in my whole life!" As smart as Kara was with hiding her secret identity to the world, hiding her feelings she had for another woman was something she couldn't hide from her sister. Kara had started to blush. She wasn't quite embarrassed, she rather felt sorry for not having told her sister about her feelings for Lena. They always had that special bond: telling each other everything, being surrounded by the other one almost 24/7. They hadn't been best friends since the day they met, but Alex had been told that playing a new role, being a big sister, had been required now that Kara belonged to the family. And now that a long time had passed and the two of them have become best friends, Kara couldn't hide a single secret from her sister very long because Alex found out about everything. "I- I wouldn't say I'm 'In love' with her!... I just... like her very much... But she...- you know her- she surely doesn't like me back the way I like her!" Alex sighed. Although she loved Kara with all of her heart, she sometimes just couldn't understand how Kara could actually be that stupid and blind. Lena had heart eyes for her little sister since they had met. But unfortunately, Kara hadn't noticed that, although it was very hard not to notice. "Okay, come on, let's go! Get dressed already, I'm gonna call Kelly and tell her we're gonna be late..." Kara blushed a little "I'm sorry... I don't want to make you wait with me, you can go, Kelly is waiting for you, I'm gonna be fine." But Alex wouldn't let her sister leave alone. It wasn't like she was scared that someone was gonna hurt her sister, no. Kara was one of the strongest people she knew. She just wanted to make her sister feel safe and calm, so she could enjoy her evening and let Kara be celebrated. "You're silly! I'm not gonna leave without you, Kara! It's your day; we're celebrating you and your article! So take all the time you need, the others aren't gonna leave without being completely drunk and having celebrated you like crazy!" She gave her sister a big hug and then smiled at her. "So, which dresses are the options for today?" Kara was so happy that Alex was her big sister. She couldn't have wished for a better sister than her. Her mouth formed a silent "Thank You" before she went to her closet and took out two dresses: the first one was a light purple, lavender-ish colored dress, which tightly hugged her body. The second was a nude dress with blue laces all over it and an elegant neckline. "Hmm... they're both pretty..." Kara pouted. "Right? I don't know which one to choose..." "How's dancing in them? Because I guess we're not gonna be listening to your speech the whole evening" Kara laughed a little. "You're right... I guess, the first one is a no-go then... It's too tight to dance in!" Alex grinned "The second one it is then... Well... And it's even easier to get you undressed... Lucky for Lena...-" She laughed when Kara gasped and started hitting her "Alex! You...-!"

A couple of minutes later, Kara was dressed and had gotten ready. Alex had texted Kelly to wait a couple of minutes longer, so when they came out of Kara's apartment, Kelly was already waiting for them. "Wow! Look at you guys! The most adorable sisters I know!" She gave her girlfriend a gentle kiss and hugged Kara tightly. "Congratulations, again!- I can't stop congratulating you!" She giggled and Alex and Kara had to giggle as well. "Thank you, Kelly! And thank you for picking us up!- And for waiting for us!" On which Kelly gave her another big hug. "Don't apologize Kara! It's your big day, you have all the time to just enjoy it!" Alex giggled and looked at her sister. "See? I told you she's not gonna be mad. And I told you it's your day!" Kelly giggled. "You two... Let's go, the others are already waiting."
