"But , I don’t wanna be a monster

But I’ve been here for days
Drinking too much now I want you
Can’t get you off my brain

I won’t be the one to tell you things and lie to you
If you won’t listen, no
I’m not a monster, monster, no"

Claps echoed around my ears, a few whistles from some boys from the high school a couple of streets away from here - the city centre - and the occasional clink and jingle of a few coins dropping into my guitar case. It used to be a half-ripped hat a few weeks ago, but I'd managed to get a cheap, but still in good condition, guitar from the thrift shop nearby.

This was just the average Tuesday for me.

I'd rush home from school everyday, quickly change into something much more comfortable, rush back out with a few pieces of equipment and busk for the next two hours (one if I had a sore throat, or maybe just not at all). I would take breaks every so often, but my throat seems to be able to work perfectly despite all the strain I'd put it through.

"Thank you so much, everyone, for listening to me. This is my last song for today. Hope you enjoy it."

A collective groan was heard. However, it all stopped when they heard me strum a few chords.

"Take your time
waenji dugeundaeneun bamiya
Nana nana nana nana

(A/N I'm only doing it up to there cuz I'm lazy, but it does go on for the rest of the song.)

The crowd seemed to have enlarged more by the time the song ended. The clap, cheers, whistles and money dropping in my case also happened more frequently. I guess today was successful.

10 minutes later

The crowd had now dispersed by now; there was only a few people remaining and the people who passed by the street.

Darkness covered the sky, encasing its thick, star-studded blanket upon it. The moon was slightly visible, air was not quite night yet, but still late enough for the sun to set.

I put my guitar back in my case, being careful not to ruin it or damage the strings. My microphone had already been dismantled and put in my little briefcase-like bag. By now, all of the crowd had gone.

Except one man.

He was kinda small - but still taller than my midget self of 5'3" - and dresses head to toe in black. His face was covered with a standard mask and even wore sunglasses. I mean, it's dark for goodness sake, who wears sunglasses at night?

Yet, I didn't notice this.

"Do you need something?" I asked, looking at him.

He hesitated. "Hmm, not really, it's just that you have an amazing voice. Have you ever tried auditioning for an entertainment company?"

And now I paused; I hadn't. I always thought they'd reject me because I don't look pretty enough and because I couldn't dance. (A/N Everyone is pretty in their own way, learn to love yourself)

"You are pretty though, and I think you'd be a fast learner."

"Did I say that out loud? My bad." Whoops.

He chuckled. I didn't realise I was that funny. He then proceeded to take a small card out of his pocket and handed it to me.

"Here, take this and call me. I'll be able to put in a good word for you if you ever do decide to audition."

I slowly took it, looking at it. SM Entertainment. And its contact details. But there was an extra phone number and some messy handwriting at the bottom. It's probably his number, I thought.

"Ah, wait-"

I looked up and he was gone. I wasn't even looking down for that long!

"I didn't catch your name..." I trailed off. But I didn't have to.

At the back of the card was this message:

"It's Baekhyun.
Don't forget to call me!
Your talent would be a waste if you stayed busking on the street!"

And that was the day I met Byun Baekhyun.

It was also before my life became chaotic.
