"Chi!" You yell into the house.

Chi comes flying down the stairs and does a cool trick.

"Yes my Master!"

"Nice entrance. I need more information on something."

"hmm?" Chi tilts his head.

"Did dad have any problems with Earth water?" Tilting your head.

"I do not recall seeing him having any negative reactions. Why?"

"Water seems to burn and cause severe pain to Zim. Do you know why?"

"I could test a water sample to verify my suspicions but I think Zim is having a reaction to the pollution in the water. Irkens are able to drink water back on Irk. It just typically doesn't have as many chemicals/pollutants. That would explain why your Father never had any problems. He came long before pollution was a thing on Earth."

You close your eyes and nod.

"Chi you are so smart. That makes sense. Are you able verify your theory? I need to go to the lab. It might take a while but I plan on making Zim something...." You trail off.

"No problem. Also where is your sweater? I don't want you catching a cold!"

Your eyes widen.

"Ugh! Damn it! I let Zim borrow it because it was pouring and I never got it back....I'll have to ask about it tomorrow."

"You two are so cute! I ship you so hard! By the way, you are still blushing..." Chi's gaze darkens and intensifies. "TELL.ME.EVERYTHING.SOMETHING HAPPENED DIDN'T IT?!!?!" Chi lunges at you and hugs your chest.

"Chi get off! and nothing TOO big happened...I just kissed his cheek..." You said in almost a whisper.

"ah ok. WAIT WUT?!" Chi was definitely caught off guard. "You kissed him? Y/N do you know what you have done?" Chi's panicking.

You look at him confused?

"It was just his cheek. It was more to comfort him since his day was so bad. Why? do you think he didn't like it?"

"Irkens and humans view kissing as completely different things!"

"What? Really? I didn't insult him or anything did I?!" freak out mode activated.

"No Y/N....Worse"

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WORSE!?" You Yell!

"When humans kiss it can mean a lot of things right? Comfort, love between friends, families and lovers. Hell, even some cultures kiss each others cheeks to say hello and goodbye!"

You huffs and Nod your head multiple times.

"But Kissing for an Irken....Its an invitation to mate."

Your face instantly becomes white.

"M....M.....Mate?!?!" facepalming.

 You start ranting. "How would I know that? Does he think I'm a creep? Would he have done research for human affection? Why did I do that? Mating with Zim...Oh I can't!" You start shaking your head. Chi goes in front of you and grabs your shoulder and slaps your face.

"Get it together Girl!" You look at Chi and starts to calm down. "Zim is an Irken Invader. He must have done his research. Unless you really knew and want to mate with Z-" Chi gets flung across the room.

"No! It was just for comfort! I don't want to Mate with Zim! Sure I may like him but... I don't know him like that." Y/N oddly got serious.

Chi groans as he gets up from being flung. "Master, there is something you need to know if you plan to invite Zim into your life." You signal him to go on. "I am not sure if your mother mentioned this but when Irkens choose a lover it is a life commitment."

"Life Commitment? They only choose one partner for their whole life?" Y/N questions.

"Yes. Irkens don't often engage in partnerships but when they do... It is until the day they expire."

"What about dad? Moms gone now, is he able to find anyone else?" You are holding back some tears at the thought.

"Y/N. Your father chose your mother as his mate, knowing the lifespans of humans still made that choice. Now that your mother is gone...He will have to life the rest of his life with her in his heart. No one else can fill that position." Chi words soften.

You are full on crying now. "Chi, that's so romantic and sad. Why would dad pick someone that only lives 8 Irk years? He must feel so alone. I am not even there to be his family!" Chi goes to hug Y/N.

"Y/N...Irkens don't typically have family remember? And you can't pick the people you love. Those years they spent together must have been something memorable. It's quite difficult for Irkens to fall in love. Unless they are defective."

You just silently cry and nod in agreement. Chi has told you about defectives before and how many Irkens are so called "Defective".

You cuddle Chi for a good ten minutes until he continues again.

"So what I was trying to warn you is if you and Zim become an item. It will be a life commitment. Similar to marriage on Earth. But with no Divorce." Chi chuckles a bit.

You wipe your tears, trying to think how cute it.

"Do Irkens get married? Or when does the whole Life long partner thing start?"

"Marriage is native to Humans, so no Irkens do not. And the bond irkens share start when they Mate. anything before that you can turn back and run but as soon as you mate with an irken....Good luck getting rid of them! It'll be like super glue!" Chi Laughs a bit.

"...Thanks Chi." You say as you get up and start heading for the lab.

"I'll be making Zim's gift. I need to start on it if I want to finish it by the end of the week!"

Chi just smiles and nods.
