Chapter one: Tommy Davis

I was in love once, well I think I was. His name was Tommy, Tommy Davis. He had blonde hair, green eyes and lots of little freckles on his nose. I on the other hand with plain brown hair, blue eyes and no freckles was the least of his interest. Not until I shared my disgusting green apple with him. In all respects to myself and others, when we're five, it is always love isn't it?
Five to eighteen is different. I thought that Tommy and I sharing an apple, (an apple half I threw out because green was too sour) was love. Now I'm eighteen and gone through many heartbreaks and life events, I can definitely tell younger Alison that, that was indeed not love.

But to follow through with the reasons and events that caused my somewhat young self to come to this conclusion, you'd have to go back to summer 2019. That's the year everything change. I still don't know if I should or should not be thankful for that 40 degree day that caused more than half of my hometown to head to the beach.

"Ally! Hurry up" Rolling my blue eyes behind my bug sized glasses I continued to get the rest of the beach essentials from Lucie's car. Her on the other hand grabbed a towel, Diet Coke and sun hat , while running down a dune to grab a non existent vacant spot on the hot sand.
Slowly trudging my way down and over sand that slowly blistered my bare feet I reached my best friend who was already suntanning while ogling at three guys from the school rugby club. Jeffrey, tanned, sandy blonde hair and blue eyes. Alex, brown hair, brown eyes and much darker toned skin than Jeffrey and then Lucas, brown hair, piercing green eyes and as pale as the beach I sat on, oh and did I forget to mention six pack with the added guns on each arm.
"Lu, you shouldn't be gawking like that. What if Trav saw?" Sighing, Lucie rolled on to her side and slid her white sunglasses down her long, pointed nose.
"What Travis doesn't see, Travis won't know. Plus, I'm only looking" Scoffing, I grabbed my book and continued reading, only to have sand kicked at my face and book.
"Hey jackass" I yelled while lifting myself from my lying position.
"Sorry, did the beach interrupt your nerdy-ness?" Pursing my lips, I shook my head, while removing my glasses.
"Andrew, I'm surprised you even know what interrupt means. You really must be learning something in community college or did you drop out again?" I smiled triumphantly then bit my lip when I saw the look on his face. Lucie moaned then pushed him in the chest.
"Andy, I told you not to talk to me in public. We may share DNA but that's it"
"Come on little sis, we only wanted to say hi" Adam mumbled.
"For twins, you two are so opposite" Andrew laughed a deep and throaty laugh while Adam sculled at me for my comment. Adam and Andrew were Lucie's older twin brothers, who were two years older than us. Adam is at University starting his teaching degree while Andrew.... his degree is in girl and how to unhook a bra by just looking at it.
"We're just fraternal twins. We don't even look alike more or less think alike" Adam moaned while shaking his hand through his black hair.
"Imagine that, it'd be dumb and dumber" Lucie laughed causing a slight argument between all three siblings. Sighing I start to walk down the beach to where the red flags were to show where it was safe to swim, only to be pushed down on my front.
"Oh my god! Get off!" I tried yelling while my face and body started to burn from the sand.
"Shit! You okay?" A deep voice asked while helping me to my feet.
"No! Of course I'm not okay! You pushed me face first into hot frickin sand!" I yelled, wiping the sand from my body and face.
"I'm really sorry, I tried to grab the ball my mate threw for me, but over estimated" looking up, my eyes met with brown ones, that looked like pools of warm honey when the sun hit them.
"It's fine, just be more careful" I mumbled while taking my glasses of to wipe the rest of my face of sand.
"I'm Josh"
"Alison, but my friends call me Ally" his large hand was three times my size and felt like a shark eating a plankton.
"Josh!" Turning towards the voice that called behind him, he turned back to face me.
"Well it was nice meeting you Ally" smiling I nodded and placed my glasses back on my face. As I turned a squeal echoed and caught me by surprise.
"Omfg! He was so cute! Ally!" My face dropped at my best friend and so did hers.
"What?" She asked quietly.
"Lucie, how long were you standing there?"
"Umm I ran up to you just as you guys fell. Why?" Pinching the bridge of my nose I let out an annoyed sigh.
"You saw that a six foot whatever guy was lying on me while i had my face in the sand and you just stood there?"
"Yeah, hello? meet cute? you're alive so stop whining" laughing we walked towards the water while bumping hips.
Later that night I stared at my ceiling, contemplating on watching a movie or not, only to hear a knock on my door.
"Mum, you don't have to knock" A gentle laugh filled my white room.
"How was the beach?" Rolling on to my stomach and grabbing a fluffy pillow to rest my top half on I smiled.
"It was... yeah good"
"Hmm meet a boy I'm guessing?" She questioned with an arched brow. Brows I wish I had. My oldest sister Julia got my mums looks with my dads nose, I got mums nose but aunt Jenna's features. Mums hair was hardly ever down and I treasured the moments it was, her red hair would curl around her face and down her back and make her green eyes pop.
"Yes, and no. He ran into me and he was very sweet. Too old and I'll never see him again"
"Why do you say that?" She questioned as she sat next me, while running her fingers through my hair and started braiding it like she always had.
"Well he didn't look like he was in high school and looked older than Andy and Adam. Plus I never got his number" Nodding she continued her task of braiding.
"Well, life has a weird and crazy way of getting people together and not. You never know what could happen" Smiling she kisses he top of my head and left my room. I love my mum, but it had been hard the past few years, most of my time was spent at Lucie's so it was easier especially that Julia was off at University. Dad didn't cope too well and still to this day is still coming to terms with mum being bipolar and having multiple personalities disorder. It was a shock when she was first diagnosed but after a while the signs were always there. I shook my head at the thoughts and memories of mid last year, and start debating what movie to watch to calm my nerves before school tomorrow.
"'The rage in Paris'it is".
