7. Sugar We're Goin' Down

"I think I'm getting better at the song," Pete said after we stepped inside of his house.

My heart dropped in my chest. I had nearly forgotten about the song and the person he was writing it for. I crossed my arms over my chest and lowered my gaze as I followed Pete into his room. He picked up one of his guitars and began to play. There was no way I could deny the beauty of the song that I had helped Pete develop. I mumbled the lyrics along with him and I did my best to avoid eye contact with him while he played. Pete stopped halfway through the song and he raised an eyebrow at me.

"Is everything okay?" he asked.

I so badly wanted to tell him that I was okay but I found myself shaking my head. Pete placed the guitar down and moved closer to me. Pete wrapped his arms around me and pulled me against his chest. I sighed quietly and I allowed him to comfort me. I needed it.

"You know you haven't told me who the song was for," I said, trying to make my voice sound somewhat cheerful.

Pete pulled back so he was looking at me. Our gazes locked together and I could see an odd look in his eyes. Pete trailed his fingers from my back, down my arms and to my hands. The whole time I tried to ignore the pleasurable feeling and the electric current that seemed to come from Pete's fingertips. Pete clasped his hands around mine causing my heart to switch to overdrive.

"Isn't it obvious Stump?" Pete asked then glanced down at my hands with a blush on his cheeks. He laughed awkwardly before continuing. "I guess I haven't been making it that obvious."

"Making what obvious?" I demanded.

Pete looked up at me from beneath his eyelashes making him appear innocent. His gaze flickered down to my lips then back to my eyes. I froze as Pete started to lean closer to me. Within seconds his lips were meshed against mine and a warmth was spreading through my lips, arms and stomach.

HE MEANT ME! I shouted in my head. THE SONG IS FOR ME!

Excitement replaced the sadness I had felt and I responded. My hands moved away from Pete's and moved up until one hand was placed on his neck so that I could deepen the kiss and the other hand snaked around his waist so that I could pull him closer. Pete chuckled and he pulled away from me with a huge smile on his lips, he placed his hands firmly on my sides. To me it felt as if he was trying to restrain me and I didn't like the thought of being held back. Something had awakened within me and I wanted to set it free, it wanted to be set free.

"Now, do you know who the song is for?" Pete asked.

I pursed my lips and shook my head slightly. "I think I might need a little more convincing."

Pete chuckled and I nuzzled my head against Pete's neck. It felt nice to feel this way but I couldn't help but feel as if things were only going to get worst from here on out.

(Pete's P.O.V)

A loud knock on my bedroom door caused me to open my eyes. I turned my head to the side to see that it was starting to get dark outside and that the people knocking must have been the guys - and the girls. A soft sigh caused me to look down to see that Patrick was clinging to my side with his eyes squeezed shut. I couldn't help but smile at the display of affection and I couldn't help but feel guilty as I pried myself away from Patrick's hold. I got up from my bed to find a whole crowd standing outside my room.

There was Jack, Alex, Rian, Zack, Vic, Jamie, Mike, Tony, Andy, Joe, Kellin, Taylor, Cassadee, Jenna and Hayley. Jenna had brought Jake Hardy - not the Jake I hated - Matty Best, Cameron Adler and Whakaio Taahi. Taylor's band came along as well; Jordan Eckles, Mike Ferri, Cameron Hurley and Rob Chianelli. Hayley had brought Jermey Davis and Taylor York along with her . And lastly, Kellin had decided to bring Sleeping With Sirens; Jesse Lawson, Gabe Barham, Justin Hills and Jack Fowler. To be honest I'm surprised my parents allowed this many people into their house.

"So, why did you call everyone here?" Alex asked.

"Well you all know what happened to Vic," I began and everyone nodded. "I think it's too dangerous for us to continue with the band prank. If we want to get back at them we should do something else."

"Like what?" Jenna asked.

"We can still sabotage the prep rally and my plan will keep everyone safe," I explained.

"How?" Jordan demanded. "I don't want Tay in trouble."

I smiled at Jordan. The We Are The In Crowd boys were so protective over Taylor and I found it somewhat amusing, especially when Taylor glares at them like exactly what she is doing now.

"Taylor can stay in the bleachers along with Vic and a couple of others. If Jake sees them there then he'll think that we took his message away from what he has done to Vic."

"Hey! I don't want to be stuck in the bleachers!" Taylor protested.

The WATIC boys all looked at Taylor in a defensive manner. Taylor mumbled something that sounded like unfair as she crossed her arms over her chest.

"There only needs to be a few of us there," I admitted.

"So, what is this brilliant plan?" Kellin asked.

"I know it's a bit of a cliche but we can pout paint over the cheerleaders," I began. "Then we can change the banner they have created to something else-"

"Oh, oh! We can change it to 'Go Fuck Yourself, Jake!'" Jack Barakat said interrupting me.

A smile tugged at the corners of my lips. "Okay then, you can create the banner Barakat."

Jack grinned at me and high-fived Alex.

"We need to get back at the football team as well," Vic pointed out.

I nodded. "I know and I'm not entirely sure of what we should do to them."

"Isn't Jake throwing a party after the prep rally?" Jake Hardy asked.

"Yeah, what have you got planned?" I asked.

"Well, rumour has it that his parents are going to be out of town and I've also heard that a lot of the footballers parents believe their son don't drink. I know this may sound lame but we could call Jake's parents and tell them about the party and that there is alcohol everywhere," Jake Hardy replied.

I pursed my lips. "Subtle and it prevents people from getting hurt. Okay we'll do it."

"We're going to ruin a lot of people's social lives over this," Mike said and looked to his brother. "But I honestly don't care about them, especially after what they did to Vic."

"I think we all feel that way," I replied.
