Old Hags and Green Eyes

I slowly forced myself out of bed as my alarm went off. Another Monday at college, I was starting to learn which professors I hated and which ones I didn't. My roommate was still fast asleep and I was jealous of her. She didn't start until around 10 am, it was only 7. I knew I had to hurry, my professor for ancient history did not like anyone being even close to missing the start of class, which meant get there a half hour before hand.

I met my friend Lucas on my way over to my first class, we had met this year and we had become so close, he was the closest thing I had to a best friend. We actually had one class together, but it wasn't until later in the day.

"So, are you ready to deal with the old hag?" Lucas asked, walking up to me.

"Sure, you know she always makes my morning." I said sarcastically.

"Don't worry, I think you're early enough for once, so you shouldn't get into to much trouble."

    "If you only knew..."

"Just survive until we go to lunch later. Look at it this way though, once we meet up for lunch, you're done for the day."

"And that can't come soon enough."

I had slowly made my way into the giant lecture hall that my class was held in. I just wanted to get this class done and over with, I only had it three times this week and then I was free for break, which I was sadly stuck at campus for. My parents decided it would be fun to take a vacation and leave before I got off on break.

As I sat down I noticed one thing was odd about today's class. The old hag was standing off to the side while a young man, maybe about mid to late twenties, stood in the center.

"Good morning, this is Professor Smith, he will be taking over this class starting today. So even though I know you all will be heart broken, please treat him with the utmost respect."

And with that she left. I did a silent cheer as I realized that maybe my second to last year here wouldn't be so bad.

"Good morning everyone, as you heard I am Professor Smith and I am taking over your class for the rest of this year. Yes I said year, because now you guys have to take this until you complete your junior year in May." Professor Smith said.

Everyone started cheering, we barely knew this guy and already everyone loved him. I couldn't disagree though, he was something nice to look at.

"And since I am new to all of you, the first thing you can do for me is to write a ten page paper on an event in ancient history, due the next time you come to this class."

Everyone including myself groaned. Maybe he wasn't going to be such an awesome guy. Can I have the old hag back now?

"Though since I know you all are so excited to get this paper started I am letting you out once you come up and I have a chance to know a few things about you. So I know who and what I am dealing with."

Everyone rushed to get up there so they could get out of this class as quick as possible. I wasn't going to move, I knew I would be here a while so why bother. So I pulled out the book I have read hundreds of times Once In A Full Moon, it was such a good book and it never got boring. I got so into it that when I looked up I noticed that Professor Smith was standing in front of me and the lecture hall was empty.

His eyes were so green, but they weren't just green they also had a ring of gold and a ring of black through them. His brown hair fell into his eyes, giving him a mysterious look. But his hair still looked professional, then again he is a professor.

"Why hello there, care to introduce yourself so you can go?" He asked, smiling.

"Umm, my name is Scarrlette." I said, stuttering like a fool.

"Well Scarrlette, do you have a last name?"

     "Yes, Johnson."

"Well Miss. Johnson, I hope to see you in my next class paying attention and with your paper done." He said, laughing lightly.

     "Yes sir."

And with that I walked out. I don't know why my head was in a fog the entire time he was talking to me, or why he was looking at me that way. All I know is that I couldn't wait to go back to that class.
