It all started with the raise. Mike was a mechanic, who had a wonderful granddaughter named Olivia. Mike was poor, he struggled to pay his rent. So he didn't have time for shenanigans like toys.
Olivia always complained about never getting any presents for Christmas or her birthday.
Mike was at work, and he had hit the mark of working as a mechanic for five years.
He was sitting back in a chair, when his boss knocked on his door.
"Come in," Mike said.
His boss walked in. "You know, you've been a mechanic for five years, and I've been thinking. I decided that I would give you a raise."
"A raise?!" Mike yelled. His mouth was hanging open.
And that's where it all began.
