"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for."
– Professor John Keating (Robin Williams), Dead Poets Society (1989)
So many quotes from this film mean a lot to me, but every time I fall down a pit of guilt and despair over the fact I can't seem to just go to college and become a doctor or a lawyer like everyone else tells me to, I remember that choosing to follow a path in the arts such as film is equally as meaningful in its own way.
