Return, Retry, Restart...Continue? (Danganronpa V3 X Reader)

Chapter 23

"Heh...Looks like it's decided then." 

I know these memories are falsified but... I can't think of a good reason on why we shouldn't use them. Oh well... they should all be remembering the Ultimate Hunt. If this doesn't work on me I'll pretend like I remembered that too. 

"I guess I'll turn it on then." You resigned. With that you flicked the switch and suddenly you were all bathed in a burst of light. 

Your feet were moving swiftly underneath you. You looked back behind you to see a group of people chasing you, you knew you had to speed up and so you did. You pushed yourself to past the point of exhaustion. Somehow, you knew you'd be dead if you didn't. 

"It's the Ultimate hunt! They're after me! They're after everyone with talents!" You could hear your thoughts echoed in your head. 

You continued running until you realized something. "I have to give up my talent. I'll become a normal high school student." 

Suddenly there was a scene change and you were suddenly hooked up to a machine. You thought to yourself..."This will get rid of all the memories I have regarding my talent..."

And with that you woke up. You let out a gasp at the vision you just saw. It didn't feel like a memory, but more like a dream. As if you had gone to sleep. Is this how the flashback light effects me? I mean since I know its not real maybe that's why it's doesn't feel like its apart of my memories but more like what I saw was a dream.... 

Everyone around you still seemed to be in shock, compared to the others you seemed to have recovered a little too quickly from the shock. You shook your head. 

"Did... do you all remember everything.... The Ultimate hunt?" You asked. 

"Yes! I remember that... I had to erase my own talent in order to escape." Shuichi said. 

"Wait! You guys saw that too? So it wasn't just me getting chased by the Ultimate Hunt?" Miu asked. 

Kirumi decided to answer that question, "Yes, you were not the only one. I... no, we... were being chased as well.." 

With that, everyone looked around at each other. You let your gaze drift towards Rantaro and instead of being shocked he looked more relieved? 

I suppose he would be... now he knows he can trust that note left by his previous self. 

"So we were all being chased by the Ultimate hunt huh?" Ryoma said. 

"Oh but... Can someone tell me what the Ultimate hunt is though...?" Tenko asked. 

Soon enough, everyone came to the realization that they didn't remember everything. 

"Nyeh... My mana has run out so I can't use my magic to help me remember either..." Himiko commented. 

Keebo shook his head, "I only remember being chased... but nothing else."  

"Ugh... this feels gross... Like a piece of shit that wont fully squeeze out." said Miu.

"Even if we can't remember, we should be able to figure something out." Ryoma spoke. 

"Huh? Like?" Tsumugi asked. 

"If we were all running away from the Ultimate Hunt... then why are we here now?" Ryoma continued, "Perhaps we've been captured? By the Ultimate Hunt that is.." 

"You're saying that we tried to hide but we got captured anyway? Then could it be that this killing game is the result of the Ultimate hunt?" Keebo asked. 

Korekiyo let out a sigh, "If that is the case, then I am ever more concerned about this Ultimate Hunt..." 

"But, but, no one can remember anything about the Ultimate hunt!" Angie pointed out, "Nyahahaa! What a disappointing disappointment!"

"Quit laughing you skank!" Miu shouted. 

"Now now... this isn't the time to fight, I presume that no matter what we do we can't remember anything more." Rantaro said. 

Once again, Monokuma popped out of nowhere"He's right! If you want to remember more then you'll have to get more flashback lights!"  

"Well then give us some!" Himiko shouted. 

Monokuma laughed, "No can do! Of course, if you ever want to learn the whole story in one go... all you have to do is graduate! And the only way to do that... is to participate in the killing game!" And with another laugh, Monokuma disappeared as quickly as he left. 

"Killing game? I will never do that again!" Tenko shouted. 

"We just gotta work together! If we do that then we all can make it out alive." Kaito enthusiastically said, "Just like what a certain someone said..." 

"I too think that cooperating with everyone is the best course of action!" Keebo started only to be cut off by Kokichi's fake snore. 

"I'm snoringgg..." Kokichi stated. 

"We're having an important discussion here Kokichi..." Tsumugi said. 

"Is there anywhere that says I need— " Before Kokichi could continue on and get everyone angry at him again, you decided to cut him off. 

"I think Kokichi is just tired, it's almost nighttime anyway! I'll go take Kokichi to his room. We can continue discussing tomorrow right?" As you said that you grabbed Kokichi's wrist and started to drag him out. 

"He-hey! Don't drag me! I wanted to stay!" Kokichi tried to protest. You continued to drag him outside of the gym. 

"(Y/n) Let go! I was about to say some very important stuff!" Kokichi continued whining. 

"Shut it! Why are you so determined to put a target on to your back? I know you think that cooperating isn't the way this game should be played... but putting a target on your back isn't good either! I don't want to see you be killed! So stop trying to make everyone hate you!" You shouted at him. 

"(Y/n)... you did the same thing though didn't you?" Kokichi stated. "You put a target on your back the second you admitted that you knew Maki was going to die. You're such a hypocrite!" 

"I didn't have a choice. You do though! You're just too scared to get attached to people. Stop trying to get everyone to hate you. There's more than one way to win this killing game." 

Kokichi didn't say anything in reply. He just turned away from you and went inside his dorm. 

Did... I say the right thing? I don't know how to get him to change... if it's even possible.

Not gonna lie, Kokichi and Rantaro are being the most difficult characters to write right now. 

Kokichi because I want him to develop but I also want to keep the characteristics that make him the Kokichi we all know. 

And Rantaro because there's just not enough about his personality other than chapter 1 (and that's barely) and the few free-time events. 

How do you think I'm doing though? Please give me some critique hahah. Especially on Kokichi's character.
