"anything for the crazy cat lady. Also, i'm not doing a prank on you tonight, i have a real gift." jess pulled back and looked at him

"really?" he nodded.

They got interrupted by her door opening and sophia and Ciara walked in looking at the pair because they were still in each other's arms.

"ok i'm going to go, it's nice seeing you again girls." he kissed jess's head and walked out of the room.

Jess walked over and plopped down on the bed and looked at the girls who were in shock.

"what?" she smiled

"are you and josh you know, a thing?" ciara put her stuff down and sat in front of her

"no, i don't think we are we have just been getting close though." she played with her fingers.

"You totally like him!" sophie dropped her stuff and sat down next to her

"no i don't." she lied "can y'all be quiet he might hear you."

"ah got it, you don't think he likes you?" jess just looked at her "ok we will change that. Josh! can you come in here!"

"what the hell are you doing!" she whisper yelled

it took him a few seconds to come through the door. Josh walked in with a confused expression peeking his head through the door.

"yes?"

"can you come here" sophie patted the spot next to her which was right next to jess.

He closed the door and sat next to jess. She looked stiff and was staring off to space. Sophie put her hands up like she was creating a picture frame and putting it towards them.

"that looks correct right?" sophie turned to Ciara who nodded with a smirk

"ok! i-i um and going to get ready s-so if, u-um never mind!" jess got up from the bed and sprinted into the bathroom turning on the shower.

"What's wrong with her? She seemed off. Did i do something?" the girls shook their head

"Let's just enjoy the night and if something happens it happens" Ciara patted his shoulder

"what do you mean?" josh was now messing with the comforter on the bed

"josh we know you like her. Ever since i first met you! The way you look at her is unreal. Every girl is wishing that a boy would look at her that way. I don't want to say this. It's a look when someone is in love, josh." Sophie knew when she met josh that him and jess would be together but it would take time.

"l-love? I don't know sophie." he ran his fingers through his hair

"Josh look it might not be love or whatever but i know it takes time to figure out. After all, you guys only met three months ago. Just look jess hasn't been in great relationships, and she's been through hell. Josh, you have been the one person that has made her happy to the fullest. Through all the pain she is going through with her dad and hunter, you're her safe place!" Ciara finally said what was on her mind

"Wow, um gosh. Thank you guys so much now i know why you guys are her best friends." he smiled at them. "i'll wait until she is ready, i don't want to say anything now let's just have fun." he stood up and walked out the door

In the bathroom jess was taking a shower she heard none of that conversation just muffled talking.

Later that night everyone went to a buffet food restaurant so they could get anything they wanted to celebrate Jess's birthday. When they sat down jess was sitting next to josh and Sophie was on her other side. They were in a circle booth. Jess was happy she had her whole family with her except Charlie and Hunter. She was going to face time then later at night.
