"But you'll never be alone

I'll be with you from dusk till dawn

I'll be with you from dusk till dawn

Baby, I'm right here

I'll hold you when things go wrong

I'll be with you from dusk till dawn.."

Dusk.

It was dark with the stars shining dimly across the blue sheet across the sky and the moon was ever so often being covered by the clouds that passed by. But, hidden within a narrow alleyway hid a boy wearing a leather jacket leaning against the brick wall looking down at his phone, waiting for the message. He scraped his hair back roughly with his fingertips sighing in frustration. Until he heard the rapid sound of footsteps down the alleyway and a slim figure collided with his chest panting heavily. He knew who it was, so he simply grasped her shoulders gently pushing her back, locking his piercing green eyes with her brown ones.

The light seemed to dance teasingly around the rim of her eyes', ones that were often perceived as innocent, but he knew better than to believe that. The boy simply trailed his hand up her bare arm slowly, and she leaned into his familiar and secure touch. His lips parted to say a few words when the atmosphere shifted dramatically around them as well as between them.

An object scraped loudly across the paving, and the echoing sounds of voices rapidly began to intensify, breaking the serene silence they had. Both boy and girl flicked their heads away from each other for a mere second trying to analyse the situation before locking eyes again.

The boy simply tilted his head at her waiting for her response and a smile grew on her features, and her eyes hardened into something deadly. They nodded at each-other once and simply ran as the thugs shouted after them. They ran until they got to the metal fence at the end of the alley which most people would assume is a 'dead-end', but the black-haired boy and brown-haired girl were already climbing up the fence gripping tightly onto it. The boy reached the other side swiftly slightly chuckling in amusement as he watched the girl struggle to climb up due to her boots.

"Asshole." She mumbled grasping tightly at the thin metal that was aiding her until she got to the top of the fence. She tossed the briefcase down to the boy before jumping down from the fence with no difficulty only to be met the boy grinning. There was no time to lose when the thugs were hot on their trail. They made it to the streets and ran with the wind against them. But their hands were joined together, and the briefcase they stole with tucked firmly within the boy's grip. They weaved down the empty streets feeling like they both had a target glued to there backs.

But they loved this.

The adrenaline that courses through there veins as they bolt down the streets, the wind that caressed their face and their hands intertwined together, doing this all together because they simply ran by the motto 'ride or die.'

So here they were running down the streets with $50,000 inside the suitcase they just stole from a thug group. The money they had within there grasp was enough for both of them to leave the country together. To start with a blank slate together, that was all that was running through the boy's mind.

Not the thugs that were right behind them but the future he would build with the girl he fell head over heels for the moment she stole his wallet.

The streetlights were soon no longer shining on them now for they had run so far out heading towards the abandoned small shack that they called home. The footsteps or shouts of the thugs could no longer be heard except the gentle wind that blew by.

They walked across the long grass chasing after there breaths, but hands tightening ever so slightly until they opened the wooden door entering the small place they had set up together. The black briefcase was tossed onto the small table, and the boy pulled out a chair sitting down on it, with the girl leaning over his shoulder waiting to see what was inside. He exhaled before fiddling around with the lock, and a loud click echoed as the briefcase popped open. The lid was lifted slowly and cautiously until the stacks of money came into view under the dim moonlight.

His hand ran across the stacks in amazement before lightly chuckling in disbelief.

"You did it, baby..." He turned his head towards her repeating the words until his lips met hers in a breathless kiss which she gladly melted into. Her hands tugged at his jacket, taking it off as his mouth broke into a smile before pushing her onto the small bed they had. She braced herself on her elbows, smiling at the boy not seductively but in pure happiness at there victory tonight. The black-haired boy crawled towards her capturing her lips with his once again before making his way down to her neck.

"We're getting outta this hellhole..." He whispered as his breath blew across her skin before leaving gentle kisses that made her breath hitch. The girl's hands gently ran through his black locks as her eyes shut in content both too lost within each other to notice what was happening around them.

It wasn't until the boy took a deep breath picking up the strong scent of gasoline in the air, but by the time everything clicked in his head, the match was dropped in from the small window they had.

"Is everything okay-"

Heat rapidly flared up in the room, and bright orange flames rose high above them on the bed. The boy jumped up from the bed, searching for an opening in the flames as sweat began to trickle down his forehead. He was left in a state of panic when he heard her coughing behind him, struggling to put out the flames with his leather jacket burning herself in the process. He gripped her wrist, stopping her, bringing her close to his chest which she buried her head in hearing the fast beat of his heart against his scorching hot skin. He began to move slowly against the fire gritting his teeth at the heat that attacked him as he covered the small girl against his chest.

They both coughed viciously as the smoke infected their lungs and within the blazing heat that surrounded them, it hit them that they were not going to make it out alive.

No one knew they lived inside this small shack for two years; no one even came around this area. The two of them stumbled around before slumping against the wall in defeat. They looked at each other tears brimming their eyes, no words needed between them, they just knew. So their hands found each other's and he held her knowing that things went so wrong tonight.

"So close, huh..." She whispered as she watched the darkness begin to fade away from the small window they had across the room. The boy's grip tightened on her waist as they both struggled to keep their eyes open, watching the flames get closer and closer towards their feet in a matter of seconds.

"So close..." He mumbled feeling lightheaded.

It wasn't long until their eyes began to get heavy and dark spots clouded their vision but not before they saw it,

Dawn.
