Chris' POV
The school is alive with chatter about what happened yesterday and after the announcements Me. Eard comes in the pa to announce an assembly. I walk with Adrienne to the high school gym where we quickly find our group, who are all thankfully safe. I sit behind Lex and let her warmth seep deep into me.
He thanks us for our leadership, corporation, and professionalism yesterday. We go back to class with a little time to finish up the worksheet we were given on the Salem witch trials. Then at 8:25 like every morning, I leave for the tech center. I plug in my headphones and put them in my ears to listen to the loud music.
As I arrive at the tech center I hear from other kids on my bus that our school is on a high level lockdown and that we were going to have to stay at the tech center. We go through class like normal and the announcer says that we are going to be released to the church we were at yesterday. Lex and I are the only ones out of our friend group who go to tech center, so I text Anna,Carolin, and Adrienne to make sure they were all ok. Plus Merryn, of course. They were all safe and their parents where on the way to pick them up. A huge feeling of relief rushed over me when I met Lex at the church and she sat with me on the pews with her arm on the back of the pew behind me. Now my mind was a t peace that everyone was safe and sound. Lex calls her mom and she's allowed to walk the block to her house and my oldest sister picks me up to take me to the house where I babysit, so I can watch them for the rest of the day.
Although I know everyone is safe, including me, I can't help but feel like something bad was going to happen as soon as we all felt safe.
