Lex's POV
"What do you want me to do, close my eyes?" She asks.
"Yes, and be my good luck." I smile while grabbing my club and take a practice swing. Then an idea that had been swimming in my head for a short time surfaced. Taking action, I stride over to the golf cart where she is sitting.
"That's not hitting." She laughs a little while opening her eyes. I place my hand on her cheek, applying a little pressure so she is pulled to me. I gently kiss her, not to scare her away from my bold moves. She pulls away hesitantly before fluttering her eyes open and whispering, "We just shared 80,000 germs."
"Want to share 80,000 more." As I search her eyes for an unspoken permission.
"We can't." She castes her eyes to the ground.
I start to feel agitated and confused, "Why the hell not?"
"Cody-" She starts.
"Is a piece of shit. End of story." I snap thinking about that son of a bitch.
"No, Lex listen." she tries to coax me.
"Look if you didn't want me to kiss you then you shouldn't have been giving me signals that you wanted me to." I defend my self while backing away and getting air to take a breath.
"Lex, I can't be with you." she squeaks out quietly. "I really, really want to be with you, but I can't." I feel like she is leading me on to no end just to end up with a piece of no good waste of oxygen.
"Tough luck." I yell and grid my teeth, trying to get a grip on my thoughts. I slam my club in to my bag in frustration then shoving Chris to the passenger side so I can drive. I carelessly drive to the golf barn, trying to keep my vision straight before leaving Chris in the cart and slamming the door to my dad's truck. All my thoughts swarm my head and I can barely hear my dad talking to me.
Drive." I tell him and even though I know he'll probably beat my ass later, he complies. We reach my house and I go straight to my bed room for the rest of the night. I don't even bother with dinner.
Chris' POV
I walk into the school expecting to see Lex sitting with everyone else at our morning table. I sit down anyway only for a few minutes to pass when my eyes caught Lex's back retreating to the lockers. She is walking with Adrienne. Alone.
Adrienne had just been in a bad fight with her friends, making this the perfect opportunity for Lex to get close to her an make me jealous in the process. Even if she hadn't intended to. But I know that Adrienne isn't my enemy nor should I be jealous of her. Adrienne identifies as a boy and is just as much my friend as she is Lex's.
"Are you good?" Carolin asks. I have been staring and not noticed that everyone had joined me at the table.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I replied smoothly.
"We both know that fine doesn't mean you're actually fine." To which I reply with an eye roll.
When I arrive in my first hour, Lex is sitting in my seat which is behind Adrienne while they are talking.
"You stole my seat." I try to sound the most normal so that hopefully we can just pretend the incident on the gold course never happened. Even if the scene hadn't stopped playing in my head since it happened.
"Bye, Adrienne." She speaks in a low growl tone and pushes past me to the hallway. Adrienne gives me a small encouraging smile before turning around to start class. We talk when we are allowed but we both know better than to bring up the problem at hand.
After tech, lunch is no different. Instead of joining us for lunch ay the table, Lex goes to the other building with Adrienne to eat. When it is time for geometry Lex sits in her normal seat by me and I see a small hope in the action. I let a small smile creep onto my face. Lex peers over at me and grabs her stuff, leaving to sit at the back table. Ignoring me in every way possible.
It goes on like this for a week and a half.
