Chapter 37: Soulmates

Start from the beginning

The room erupted in laughter, her melodramatic display creating a moment of comic relief. Katie, her infectious laughter filling the air, tried to console Liza between her giggles. "Come on, Liza! Your soulmate is just around the corner. Maybe he got lost on his way here, or he's stuck in traffic. You never know!"

Liza peeked through her fingers, a glimmer of amusement in her eyes. "Stuck in traffic, you say? Well, I hope he brings a good excuse and a bouquet of flowers when he finally shows up!"

Ryan chimed in, his playful grin widening. "And don't forget the chocolate! A soulmate apology requires chocolate, guaranteed."

Liza, always the entertainer, couldn't resist pulling Nate into her comedic act. With a mischievous twinkle in her eyes, she turned to him and exclaimed, "Nate, my dear friend, it seems we're both in the 'forever alone' club. How about we have a movie night and binge-watch all the 'Minions' movies together? Just two single souls finding solace in the delightful antics of those little yellow creatures."

Nate, a twinkle of amusement in his eyes, played along with Liza's humorous proposition. He dramatically placed a hand on his chest and replied, "Liza, my dear companion in singlehood, your offer is tempting. But I must warn you, the power of my charm and wit might be too much for you to handle. Are you sure you're ready for such an unforgettable movie night experience?"

Liza, with a playful grin, shot back, "Oh, Nate, I have built up a resistance to your charm over the years. I think I can handle a few hours of hilarious Minions and your witty banter. Bring it on!"

The room erupted in laughter, enjoying the lighthearted banter between Liza and Nate. It was moments like these that brought us closer together, finding joy in the silliness and camaraderie we shared.

Nate, adopting a mock serious tone, continued, "Alright, Liza, but I have one condition. You must promise not to swoon over my incredible dance moves when the Minions break into a spontaneous dance party. It's a known fact that my dancing can cause hearts to skip a beat."

Liza raised an eyebrow, feigning skepticism. "Oh, Nate, I've seen your dance moves, and I must admit, they have a certain charm. But I'll do my best to resist the urge to fall head over heels for your suave footwork. Deal?"

Nate extended his hand, a playful glint in his eye. "Deal, Liza. Prepare yourself for an epic Minions movie night like no other. Brace yourself for laughter, snacks, and a healthy dose of Nate's dance moves. It's going to be legendary!"

As the playful banter continued between Liza and Nate, I couldn't help but notice Isaac and Aiden exchanging concerned glances. It seemed like they were growing increasingly protective, their brotherly instincts kicking into high gear. Sensing their unease, Nate decided to address the situation head-on.

"Nate," Isaac said with a protective edge to his voice. "I may have found my soulmate, but that doesn't mean I won't be keeping an eye out for my little sister and her happiness."

Aiden nodded in agreement. "Absolutely, Nate. We're here for Liza, and that includes looking out for her best interests. We want to make sure she finds someone who will cherish her and make her happy."

Nate raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glimmer in his eyes. He turned to Isaac and Aiden and replied, "Gentlemen, I appreciate your concern, but you can rest assured. As the forever lone wolf, I have no intentions of stealing Liza away. She's like a cute little minion to me, and I'll treasure her as such. No romantic intentions, just pure sibling-like affection."

Isaac and Aiden exchanged bewildered glances, unsure how to respond to Nate's light-hearted declaration. I couldn't help but stifle a giggle at their perplexed expressions. Nate's playful demeanor had caught them off guard, and it was clear they didn't quite know how to handle it.

"See, guys?" Liza chimed in, grinning at Nate. "You don't have to worry about me. Nate and I gonna have our own unique bond, just like the Minions. We'll have our epic movie nights, share laughs, and create memories as friends, no more and no less. So, relax and trust that we've got it all figured out."

Isaac and Aiden exchanged relieved looks, the tension dissipating from their features. They realized that their overprotectiveness might have been unnecessary, and that Nate and Liza had a strong friendship that didn't need romantic entanglements to thrive.

"Alright, Liz," Isaac said, a warm smile spreading across his face. "If you say so. But you know we're always here for you, no matter what. You deserve the best, and we'll do whatever it takes to make sure you're happy."

Aiden nodded in agreement, his expression softening. "Absolutely. We just want to see you smile, Lizzy, whether it's as a sisterly figure to Nate or as someone's future soulmate. You deserve all the happiness in the world."

Leaning back in my seat, I put on a mock pout and sighed dramatically. "Oh Nate, it seems you've found yourself a new minions partner. Does that mean you're leaving me behind? Am I not cool enough to be your partner-in-crime anymore?"

Darlene, ever the playful spirit, caught on quickly and joined in. She crossed her arms and gave Nate an exaggeratedly hurt look. "Yeah, Nate! I thought we were in this together. I guess I'll have to find myself a new partner for all our shenanigans."

Nate chuckled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. He leaned forward, his playful tone matching ours. "Oh, come on, you two. You know there's plenty of room in my heart for all my mischievous comrades. Belle, you're my partner-in-crime, and that will never change. And Darlene, well, now that you've found your mate, I guess I'll have to give you some time."

Darlene gasped, feigning surprise. "oh c'mon"

We all erupted into laughter, the playful exchange bringing a lightheartedness to the room. It was moments like these that reminded me of the camaraderie we shared, the ability to find joy and amusement even in the midst of challenging times.

As our laughter subsided, I leaned over to Nate, a playful glint in my eyes. "Just remember, Nate, no matter how many siblings you adopt, I'll always be the mastermind behind our most epic adventures together, be it taking you to dumpster even."

Nate raised an eyebrow, his grin widening. "Oh, is that so? Well, Bella, I dare say you're up for some fierce competition. But challenge accepted. Let the wars continue!"

With a contented smile, I leaned back in my seat, ready to enjoy the rest of the evening in the company of my loved ones. We may have been in middle of a serious situation but together, we created a bond stronger than any romantic connection could ever forge. And that was something truly special.
