The Thief

I browsed through pages,
to find you.
Pressed my pens until they could bleed no more,
writing to you.
Sketched the curl your lips made and the warmth your eyes gave;
And read our happy chapters over and over again,
to find comfort in you.
But I needed to find peace,
To replace the missing piece.
That's why I decided to close our book and set it alight
Because some things were never meant to ignite.
And just when I turned around to leave,
There you were.
The one who stole my heart---
The thief.
