I hear the slightest sound of chirping birds from the outside of my window. Signalling the start of a new day.

A day that is starting to early.

I shut my eyes tighter in hopes of keeping out the rays of sunlight streaming into my room landing upon my sleeping form.  I snuggle my head deeper into my plush pillow, which did not feel this comfortable when I was going to bed last night. Why is that always the case? My pillow felt like a rock last night, but now all of a sudden when I have to get up and leave my bed it decides to become a cloud.

Stupid lying and deceitful pillow.

I ignored the sun and pulled my blanket further up by body, only satisfied once it landed over my head, blocking out the suns rays of annoyance. I let myself continue to drift off, almost meeting the desired sleep I so eagerly wished to return to. This desire was quickly taken away from me as I heard the slow creaking of my door followed by footsteps, nearly going unheard due to the carpet, moving across the floor. My attempts to ignore the distraction became futile when I felt the pressure of what I truly believed to be an elephant crush my body, shooting my eyes open as noise suddenly entered my ears.

"Rise and shine!" My cousin Charlie screamed into my ear while crushing my body. I squirmed and wiggles in hopes of getting her off of me. My attempts were useless, her body simply moving as my own did.

"I'm up! I'm up!" I screamed back. My voice being muffled due to it being shoved into my pillow. She laughed still not moving off of me.

"Sorry what was that? I didn't quite catch that" she said, still laughing. I confined to thrash around, trying to remove her from my body.

"CHARLOTTE FOSTER GET OFF ME NOW!" I shouted back at her. Her laughter stopped instantly replaced by a gasp and what I assumed to be followed by a scowl. That's when I gained my opportunity. I slightly lifted my body and rolled over onto my left side, effectively knocking her off me and sending her tumbling off the bed, hitting the floor with a thud. I looked over the edge of the bed towards her with a smile on my face. Charlie quickly sat up looking at me with fury in her eyes.

"Hey!" She exclaimed at me with a pointed finger and a frown. I simply laughed at her attempts to look scary. I mean I don't think she could look threatening no matter how hard she tried. She just couldn't. "You know I hate being called Charlotte" she said with a pout, lowering her accusing finger. I simply laughed before continuing.

"Sorry Charlie, but maybe next time you shouldn't try to accidentally crush me to death" I stated. She glared at me while standing up.

"Next time I'll suffocate you" I heard her say under her breath quietly. "On purpose" she continued as she walked toward my door to leave, causing me to let out a chuckle.

"I head that" I said towards her. She didn't look back simply reaching for the handle before slipping out the door.

"Good" was all she said finally exiting and closing my door behind her. I sat up and laughed.

Charlie was really something. She's always been a little insane, but in the best way. Charlie has been by best friend for as long as I can remember, we were practically raised together. Charlie is what some might call the 'girl next door' type. From her golden blonde her to her blue eyes. Even the was she acts, although seeming to be a patient who broke out of an insane asylum, she was at times extremely sweet and friendly. But that's how most who don't really know her see her. Personally I see her as a sarcastic nut job. But hey, that's just my own opinion.

I swing my legs off of the bed, my feet making contact with the carpet bellow. I stand up and stretch, yawning as I do so. I trudge across my room, wiping the sleep from my eyes before reaching for the door handle. I make my way down the hallways, leaving my room and comfy bed behind, making my way the the bathroom. I walk in to see Charlie standing there, with her toothbrush in her mouth while she made eye contact with herself in the mirror. I chuckled, walking over to where she stood, grabbing my own toothbrush and toothpaste.
