92.3. Seven tenths of a point away from the World Final. Even three weeks after the duo was eliminated from World of Dance, the pain of being so close still stung.

What stung even more was the separation. Now that Sean and Kaycee didn't have to rehearse everyday for an upcoming competition, the two have seen each other less and less. Sean no longer had an excuse to call Kaycee at odd hours during the day and night to talk about potential choreography. Kaycee no longer had an excuse to walk into the Lew household seemingly unannounced to pester Sean about said choreography. There were simply no more excuses for the two to be inseparable.

The only two people who thought they needed an excuse to be together were Sean and Kaycee themselves. Everyone else in their lives understood their relationship more than the two did; they were soulmates, just soulmates who found each other early. Of course, the writing on skin wasn't present yet, but everyone was so sure that the two were meant to be.

That was, until Jack came into the picture.

Jack met Sean and Kaycee on the set of World of Dance, as he was a fellow dancer, just one who never received any screen time on the show. Jack always seemed to be around during the Qualifiers and the Duels, watching the two work in admiration. When Jack was cut during the Duels, he didn't disappear, much to Sean's dismay. Unluckily for Sean, Jack was also from the Los Angeles area, he was just outside of LA in South Pasadena. This meant that he would continuously be hanging around, in hopes of catching Kaycee's attention.

This turned out to work in Jack's favor, as after Sean and Kaycee were eliminated from the show, Jack and Kaycee quickly became an item. For the first two weeks there was no label, until Jack made an Instagram post that confirmed the two being in a relationship.

This meant that there really were no excuses for Sean and Kaycee to be together. Kaycee was in a seemingly happy relationship with someone her friends had never met. And Sean, he continued to choreograph, burying himself in work to avoid thinking about the hole in his life that was caused by Kaycee's absence.

No one seemed to understand Kaycee's newfound relationship, including Kaycee herself to some extent. Kaycee knew for certain that she had feelings for Jack, she just pinpointed the feelings to be those of affection, when that wasn't actually the case. Kaycee, too, had a hole in her heart that Sean's absence caused, but she also misinterpreted that as sadness from being eliminated. Are you sensing the pattern?

Friends and family knew in their hearts that Sean and Kaycee were truly soulmates and this would pass, but Jack and Kaycee's relationship continued for months. Everyone grew to like Jack, even Sean himself; they just didn't like Jack with Kaycee. This wasn't even because of how Jack treated Kaycee, he treated her very well. There just wasn't a spark that anyone could see; the kind of spark only soulmates could have. The kind of spark that only Sean and Kaycee had, but had yet to see for themselves.

Author's note: Hi! I know I just published the prologue yesterday, but this is just as short as the prologue, so it doesn't even feel like a chapter lol. So I bit the bullet and decided to post this today because I wrote it and I've reread it too many times.

I have the next couple chapters prewritten, but I'll probably be messing around with them for a couple days, so I'll upload when I'm 100% confident :)

I hope you guys are interested so far! I PROMISE it gets better and the chapters get longer xoxo
