My fingers felt numb as I started to wake, unsure about where I was. "Lieutenant, perhaps you should turn the heater up. She is freezing." That voice... soft and familiar. Yet the sound of it filled my being with regret. I closed my eyes a little tighter before slowly opening them. The first thing I noted was that I couldn't see anything.

I blinked a few times, opting to wave my hand in front of my face. "I can't... I can't..." I sat up quickly, a wave of nausea hit me like a ton of bricks.

The car jerked to a stop. "(Y/n), are you alright?" Hanks gravelly voice? I reached out, trying to find him at the very least.

My mind was in a state of panic. "Hank? Hank? I.. I can't see. I... I need to get home." I felt tears fall from my eyes before feeling the car shift into gear. The feeling of the car accelerating, as I turned my hands to grip at the belt around me.

It only took about five minutes for us to get to my place. By then I was fiddling with the belt, tears of frustration as I couldn't get it. Cool hands touched mine making me jerk back. "Let me, you need to calm down." The hands left mine and I felt the belt loosen before taking my arm.

I flinched away again trying to pull myself free but they didn't let go. Instead, easing me out of Hanks vehicle. "Bring her this way. I'll take her from there." My head perked up when I heard her voice.

I practically ripped free from the hands holding me hostage and stumbled over to where I'd heard Rayna's voice. "Rayna... Rayna... where are you?" My hands grasped at the air until I felt her familiar metallic hand on my arm. I relaxed immediately, letting her guide me through the doorway.

My legs following her orders. "Step up three steps. We're at the porch." I nodded following her instructions. She paused. "Hank, are you coming inside or not? She will be fine in ten minutes, then she will be ready to return to the field." There was a bit of grumbling from him as two pairs of footsteps made their way through the paved driveway.

Continuing her walking she asked them to wait for me in the living room. She walked us into my room. "They didn't follow us, right?" I whispered in a low tone.

I felt Rayna move to check behind her. "No, we're in the clear. Let me see your optics." I nodded, taking a seat on the bed knowing where we stopped. I felt her dislodge the first one and look it over. "They are going to need to be replaced. Only one problem."

Tense, I could feel my muscles stiffen. "The ones I bought are a different color aren't they? Shit. How am I going to explain that to Hank? 'Oh, by the way, there was an accident before I joined the force and now I'm practically an android?'" I hissed through my teeth. "Hank hates androids.... And I don't want him to hate me."

I muttered that last part under my breath feeling her remove the other optic. The sound of her shoes hitting the carpeted floor as she walked away from me and to my closet. "He won't hate you." I felt skeptical of that fact and tried to relax.

Then the thought came to me about Connor. "What if Connor thinks I'm a deviant?" I pulled my knees up onto the bed, my fingers gripped my hair. I wanted to cry, never leave my room. "He could try and kill me... or try and turn me into CyberLife."

I couldn't breathe, I was stressing myself out. Her hand landed on my shoulder, pulling me into a hug. She just held me in her arms for a minute. "You need to tell them. That way if something were to happen, they would know what you need. (Y/n).... this is only going to cause you more pain the longer you bottle it up and hide in this house."

She was right, of course. That didn't make it any easier. "Okay... I'll tell them when the time is right." She released me and set something down on the bed side table. I prepared myself mentally for the sudden change that would shock my senses. I felt her hand touch the side of my face, the click of the first optical unit being put into place. I flinched away immediately.
