Marcus dreaded summer. Summer is the season that went wrong for Marcus.
It's a hot summer night. Marcus had been in his bedroom all day.
Someone opened the doors, entered, and shut them.
Marcus looks at who it is and sees it's Henry
"What's up? You're not happy," Henry asked
"I just hate summer," Marcus shrugs
"And why is that?" Henry asked, looking at Marcus, confused
"Why do you want to know, Henry? It's not your business," Marcus asked cautiously
"Because. I'm not fond of when my brother's not happy. I'm genuinely worried about him," Henry said merely yet sincerely.
Marcus grins a little and lies down on his bed as Henry does the same
"Well, I had a lot of bad luck last summer. Things with the family, mainly with our fathers and uncles, my ex broke up with me because he was seeing someone else one year into dating, and the public's been a bitch," Marcus said
"I see, but that shouldn't stop you from having fun, Marcus. Summer's the time for fun of all kinds," Henry said.
Marcus chuckles, and he gently elbows Henry, making him grin
"Don't be inappropriate, Henry. I know what you're referring to," he said carefully
"I wasn't trying to be inappropriate, but I get your point," Henry nods
"I just don't want to do anything. It's now eternal summer. I'm fucked," Marcus sighed
"Don't say that, Marcus. Things will look up. They always do," Henry nods.
Marcus shrugs
"Do I need to get Jake?" Henry asked
"No! No, no." Marcus said immediately.
Henry raises an eyebrow
"Have you gotten into trouble with Jake before?" He asked
"Yes, and it wasn't pleasant. He hit me," Marcus mumbles
"Oh, sorry," Henry said quietly
"Don't worry about it. Don't panic. I'm okay, it's fine. Things between Jake and I are okay," Marcus nods.
"Got it. Well, we're going out tonight. If you want to come, you can. But I won't force you," Henry says softly.
"Y-You want me to come out with you?" Marcus asked, suddenly nervous
"Yeah, of course. I have great fun when you're around, Marcus," Henry smiles sincerely.
Marcus smiles genuinely and looks at Henry
"Why? Aren't the others great fun?" He asked
"Not as fun as you, Marcus. You know how to have a great time," Henry says cheekily.
