Take The Leap | JeongMi

"Hey.." Jeongyeon called out to a girl who was sitting on the swing under the moonlight
"Jeongyeon... You're here.."
"Hey Mina... Wassup? Why are you alone?" Jeongyeon walked over to her as she sat on the swing beside her

"Nothing.. just thinking." She smiled and sighed as she hung her head down and fidgets her thumbs
"I see.." Jeongyeon sighed "—So..."
"S-So..."

"Jimin..." The moment Jeongyeon mentioned a name that was familiar to Mina, she trembled.. "What happened.." she continued
"I guess.. He found someone" she chuckled to which her voice stuttered with obvious pain

"I see.."
"it's okay.. we were just playing around.. I took it too seriously.. ha..ha.. you know?" Jeongyeon sighed and hummed as she looked up the dark sky with nothing but empty space

"What about you?" Mina sighed
"I guess.. She found someone too" she chuckled
"I see.."

"I fell too hard, for something temporary.." Jeongyeon uttered as she continued to stare at the emptiness of the night sky. "For something... I once thought was real"
"haha.. I guess we really are best friends" Mina laughed with an obvious tone of pain

"I guess.."

Silence engulfed them under the dark sky, Nothing but the breeze and their presence are felt. Nothing but silent sighs and the dark clouds passing by.. it was pure emptiness.

"I wonder..." Mina broke the silence that held them captive as she slowly choked on her own words. "I-I wonder.. what would have happened if we tried.."

"—If we continued..." Jeongyeon sighed with a chuckle "It'll be impossible.." she smiled
"Yeah.. completely.. impossible"

"Myoui Mina, the smartest student in school, an ace... the council's president.. Jimin's perfect girlfriend..." Jeongyeon laughed "Date someone like me.. A delinquent, a failure, a nobody that loves to just lay around and be lazy.." she laughed "It's impossible.."

"Give yourself some credit, Jeongyeon"
"You're my best friend Mina... I can't—"
"Ever thought of what I think?"
"I know what you think.. I know what you want.. But it's not right.." Jeongyeon sighed

"Limiting ourselves.. is right?"
"Mina!.." she sighed "I'd rather not lose you.."
"—but you won't I—"
"Everyone says the same thing.. Everyone promises the same thing... Yet everyone... never kept it"
"I am not Everyone"
"But you are someone... someone important to me!"

"Jeongyeon..— I wont leave either wa—"
"I wont take that risk... I wont even try... even if.." Jeongyeon clenched her fist and breathed
"even if... I have to limit myself for you.."

"Jeongyeon..."
"Mina.. we are not going to step that boundary... We will never take that leap... We will never... take that jump... This way.. This way.." She clenched in pain as she stood up with a tear drop "This way.. I'll be able to keep you forever.."

"Jeong—"
"I got to go.. I'll see you tomorrow.." Jeongyeon left Mina without looking back

"Jeongyeon..."

[5 years later]

Mina's phone rang just to find Jeongyeon's name popped out
"Jeongyeon!" she greeted excitedly
"[Hey Princess, are you ready for tonight?]" she chuckled
"You bet!— Will you pick me up?"
"[You know that we can't meet right?]" Jeongyeon laughed
"Aww. but why not!"
"[It's the rules love.]"
"Fine.." she pouted which immediately made Jeongyeon laugh

"[Don't worry.. We'll meet at the altar anyway]"
"I know.." Mina sighed "Jeongyeon..?"
"[Yeah?]"
"I am glad I met you.."
"[Me too..]"
"I love you.."
"[I love you too..— Now go ahead! I'll be waiting! can't wait to see you]"
"Whatever" she laughed

*drops*

Jeongyeon stared at the phone with her lockscreen of Mina and her from a travel. She smiled and released a sigh of happiness.

[Jeongyeon]
You've been a good friend to me for the past 8 years.. We had our differences, we also had our similarities.. The first time I met you, You were very cold.. You were those mean girls in school.. But who knew, mean girls can also have a soft heart. I've seen you smile, laugh, cry and get angry.. I've seen you lazy or productive as well as being bored. Every moment with you is a non-stop learning of your true personality... Like a puzzle piece for me to solve every single day.. You are unique, you are amazing, you have that one sense of humor that only you can understand.

*Church bell rings and Piano starts playing*

[Jeongyeon]
The doors of the church opened to reveal her with her white gown and that gummy smile I fell in love with. That same smile that made me fall for her head over heels. That same smile that got me... to take that leap.

Mina walks closer to the altar as the she stares right back at Jeongyeon with that gummy smile of hers.

[Mina]
Seeing you in front of me, with those loving eyes and gentle smile makes me fall for you over and over again. After all these years, I finally was able to hold your hand to take that leap with you. Catching you so it wont hurt. Loving you, for who you are and what you've become.. I am proud to call you mine.. I am happy to have someone love me the way you do. But...

[Jeongyeon]
You are amazing in your own way, You helped me realized my worth.. I love you, and will always do.. I am glad I could keep you in my life forever.. I am happy to be able to spend that life with you. But...

"Hi" Another face had popped out from Mina's vision as he covered Jeongyeon from her.
"Hi.."
"Nervous?" Mina nodded and smiled as the guy linked arms with her. Mina eyes Jeongyeon with a smile of passion and love

—But... We never took that leap to even try... We were too scared to ruin that one friendship we built through the years.. We were scared.. when time.. wasn't really on our side.

Jeongyeon and Mina stared at each other from the side of the altar. A tear dropped from both of them as they continued to hide it with a smile
