Chapter 14

"Who is that" I ask. "The guy in the leather jacket is the one and only shithead John Stockburn" Emily says. "A.K.A. her asshole ex-boyfriend" Lacy says. "That's your ex-boyfriend" I say in shock. "Yeah..." Emily says. "Emily" the other guy says walking over and hugging her, "It's so good to see you again, I've missed you." "Hi Axel" Emily says returning the hug, "I've missed you too." "Hey baby" John says smirking checking out Emily, "You look amazing, but you would look even better with nothing on."

I really want to put this guy in his place, but I don't want to cause a scene and embarrass Emily, so I just clear my throat loudly. "Who is this" Axel asks. "Ashton this is Axel my twin brother and my ex-boyfriend John" Emily says. "Soon to be boyfriend" John says interrupting Emily wrapping his arm around her waist. Emily glares at John and pushes him off her saying, "Guys, this is Ash my girlfriend." "Gi-girl-girlfriend" Axel says in shock looking between me and Emily.

John laughs and then says, "Wow you must be desperate. Message received loud and clear, yes I will be your boyfriend." "I'm serious" Emily says. "Ya" John says and winks, "I got it." "I was serious when I said we were never getting back together" Emily says, "And Ashton is my girlfriend." "Wink if Ashley is forcing you to date her" John tries to whisper. I just roll my eyes. "Its Ashton first of all" Emily says, "And Ashton isn't forcing me to date her."

John says, "Are you-" "Ok" Axel says interrupting John, "That's enough, just drop it." "The foods ready" Mrs. Bates says. I grab Emily's hand and we walk outside to get our food. We are eating together in a corner when Axel walks over and takes a seat. "Look, I'm sorry I brought him. If I had known the situation, I never would have invited him" Axel says. "Its fine Axel" Emily says. Axel gets up and goes to leave but stops and turns around.

"I love you Emily and nothing is going to change that" Axel says smiling and then turns to me, "You better treat my twin right." "I will, I promise" I say. He nods and walks off. Lacy and Mrs. Bates join us and start a conversation. Mrs. Bates asked us about our relationship, how we met, why we broke up, how we ran into each other again, and if marriage was in the near future cuz she wanted grandbabies. Emily looked embarrassed and I just chuckle.

About halfway through eating, it started raining, so everyone ran inside. Me and Emily are currently talking to some of Emily's family when John sits next to Emily and places his arm around her shoulders. "Hey babe" John says. Emily pushes John off of her, "Stop John." "Oh, come one babe" John says smirking, "I know that you want me." "No, I don't" Emily says, "Leave me alone." "I can pleasure you better than Ashley here can" John says and places his hand on Emily's thigh, "Let me rock your world like Ashley can't."

That's it. I've has enough of this asshole. I stand up and shove John which causes him to fall on the floor. "She said no" I say looking down at him. He stands up quickly looking furious and gets in my face. "Stay out of this dyke" John says shoving me causing me stumble back a few steps. "Stop harassing my girlfriend" I say getting in his face. "I can do whatever I want" John says shoving me again.

"That's enough" Axel says as he stands in between me and John, "You need to leave." "Not without my girlfriend" John says. "I am not and will never be your girlfriend again" Emily says. "You need to leave" Mr. Bates says walking into the room. "What is wrong with you guys" John says, "They will never be able to have kids." "There are other ways" Axel says. "I'm pregnant" Emily says.

"What" I say looking at Emily. Everyone else looks at Emily in confusion. Lacy slaps the back of my head. "Ow" I say, "What was that for?" "For not being careful" Lacy says. Once everyone has calmed down from the news that Emily dropped and John is finally gone, Emily finds me on the front porch leaning on the railing just staring at the road. "Are you sure" I ask looking over at her. "Yes" Emily says. "How long" I ask. "I took the test a few days ago and it was positive" Emily says, "And I went to the doctors the other day and they confirmed it."

"How far along" I ask. "About a month and half" Emily says. "So that would be around the time of the classroom incident" I say. "Yeah..." Emily says, "What are you thinking?" I see her playing with her fingers, clearly nervous about my answer. We haven't really talked about marriage or starting a family since I was still in high school. I reach into my pocket and pull out my wallet. Emily looks at me clearly confused. I open my wallet and pull out a ring.

Emily's eyes go wide and I get down on one knee. "Well I was going to do this after I graduated but this seems like a better time" I say as Emily starts to cry, "We have had our ups and downs, but we found our way back to each other. You are my soulmate, my other half, the love of my life. So, with that being said Emily Bates...will you marry me?" "Yes" Emily whispers and nods through the tears. I smile and slide the ring onto her finger. I stand up and kiss her as cheering can be heard in the background.

Once we separate, we look over at the window and see the whole Bates family watching. I intertwine our finger and we walk into the house as they cheer once again. Everyone walks over and congratulates us and checks out the ring. "My baby is getting married and I'm going to be a grandmother" Mrs. Bates says. "I think this calls for a celebration" Mr. Bates says. I look at Emily and say, "I love you." "I love you too" Emily says and kisses me.
