"Ah." Denki craned back over Hanta's arm. "Yeah, let's get outta here then. We can always piss Mina off later-"

"Mina isn't even here." Katsuki turned back to Eijirou, who hadn't moved despite the people now jostling around them in line. "Hey, Ei? You alright."

"Yeah." The word rushed out of Eijirou in a breath. "Yeah." A hand brushed against the oni mask as he jerked his face back around to Katsuki. "Just, y'know..." Eyes darted, body twitching. "Can we-"

"Let's grab some of those apples you were talking about and get out of here." Katsuki swaggered out of the line, rudely climbing over the rope guide. "Too many fucking people and their shitty kids." He flipped up a finger at a particularly offended couple, pulling a nasty open mouthed grimace.

"Tone it down some, Kat." Eijirou reprimanded, though he couldn't hide his relieved smile. "And..." Arm found it's perch as the two walked into the crowd together, losing sight of whatever it was that had the man so spooked behind them, "Thank you. I know... I know that was just to-" He cleared his throat. "Anyway. Thanks."

"Fuck off." Katsuki rammed into Eijirou's side lightly with his arm. "Don't make it into something it's not. Ferris wheels are lame and I don't like crowds. The whole idea was stupid."

Eijirou let out a shocked laugh, "It was to help you sober up!"

"Maybe you shouldn't be buying me boozy fucking apples then?" The blond suggested as they swung up to the stall, casually leaning against the wall. "Where'd Dunceface and Soy Sauce get to anyway?"

"Mmm." Eijirou shrugged. "Kyoka couldn't make it due to work, so maybe they went into the city for her? It's, like, forty five minutes if Hanta drives."

"How long if a sane person who likes the idea of life drives?"

"Bout an hour and fifteen." Eijirou smirked, turning to the vendor to place his order, swinging back around minutes later with a styrofoam container. "Ready? I think maybe we should head away from..." Eyes rose to scan the crowd with uncertainty. "You know, everyone."

"Yeah." Katsuki sucked in a breath through his teeth. "Sure. Where to?"

"Anywhere but here." Eijirou smiled, "I know a good spot you haven't been to yet!"

The crowd thinned as they moved past the field, wandered out past the airstrip, beyond the darkness of Mina's house.

"So," Katsuki broke the silence. "You said it was genetic - the red eyes thing." He inhaled nervously at Eijirou's arm flexing around him - brief but tight. "Does that mean your whole family has the black hair and-?"

"No." Eijirou, shook his head quick. "No. My twin doesn't. Testu? He actually came out with black hair too. Dyes it silver though. His eyes are dark brown. Normal. And Mina is-"

"Well yeah but she's your cousin so I figured it might not be the same." Katsuki looked up, twisted a little under Eijirou's arm. Frowned as the weight fell away.

"It's a pretty uncommon combo, actually. My Aunt. Me. My grandpa." Eijirou's head tilted as he ticked off family members on his fingers.

"So one every generation?" Katsuki interrupted.

"Oh!" Eijirou straightened, smiled. "Yeah, I guess so. It has something to do with the-" even in the dark Katsuki could see the blush, the frown. "Y'know. The whole youkai thing."

"I get it." He didn't, still Katsuki wanted to make it easier on Eijirou if he could.

"Here, this is the spot." Eijirou took a few more steps out on an old, broken road and sat.
