I run back to the mansion, Penny in my arms, and into the her room, but I stop in the doorway when I see Salina sitting on the edge of the bed. She was holding a large, old looking book, but she closes it and set it down beside her as she looks up at us, grinning.
"You two having fun?" She teases. "Colby," She mimics Penny's voice from before we left. "Colby, we can't this here."
"Shut up." Penny replies as I move to the bed side and drop her onto it. "At least we're having fun. When was the last time you had some fun with someone?"
Salina rolls her eyes. "Not long ago." She she frowns as she eyes her best friend. "Why are you bleeding?"
Penny points to me. "He bit me."
"After you bit me." I mutter.
Salina scowls. "Why? That's gross. Penny, you know how vampire blood tastes."
"That's the thing. It wasn't gross." Penny says. "Does the book say anything about a vampire's blood not tasting gross to another one?"
"What do you mean?"
"From what Penny's told me, vampire blood tastes bitter." I say. "But she didn't. It wasn't bitter. Is that supposed to happen?"
Salina frowns. "Not that I know of. But then, there's so much we don't know about the legend of the One. Maybe this is a new discovery." She taps her chin, apparently deep in thought. "Maybe if the human turns, they're blood still tastes good to the vampire, because the human was their Scented One." She didn't seem to be talking to us directly.
"Could that be why?" Penny asks. "Because he was my Scented One?"
"It could be."
"Penny, would it be alright if I see Sam and the others? Sam and I need to do a video." I suddenly ask.
Penny looks up. "Yes, you can go." I smile at her and turn to go. "But," She adds, stopping me. "Because you're now a part of this clan, you need to know the borders. Go with Turner and check our territory. Then you can go."
I nod and leave. I find Turner at the front door, leaning against the wall.
"Ready?" He asks.
"How'd you know?" I reply.
"We're vampires." Turner says, like it was obvious. Which it was. Or should have been to me. "We can hear everything that goes on in this place. And I mean everything." If I could've blushed, I would have.
"Right." I say. "Vampires." I shake my head. "I still need to get used to this."
Turner claps my shoulder. "Don't worry, you'll get there. Every newborn eventually gets used to it."
I nod, and Turner leads me outside, then sends me a grin before dashing off, me right behind him. He leads me around the clan territory, showing me exactly where the border lies, and warning me against crossing it.
When asked why we couldn't cross it, Turner says, "Because one, we'd be trespassing into another clan's territory. And two, Penelope would be mad at you for causing unneeded problems. She already has enough on her plate dealing with our rival clan before Micheal started threatening your life."
"What problems does she have with our rival clan?" I ask him.
"They started getting a little restless since Micheal was killed. We think he went to them when he was exiled, but we can't be sure."
I don't reply. Turner continues to lead me along the border, and we stop only when he was satisfied I knew it all. He goes back to the mansion, but I run back to the Trap House. I stop outside, listening to the conversations inside. At least four or five people were downstairs in the same room.
"It kind of feels like he doesn't live here anymore, you know? I mean, I can understand. He's not... human anymore, but I miss him." I smile when I hear those words coming from Corey.
"He texted me earlier today actually." Sam replies. "He said he was gonna come over."
"Did he say when?" I hear Jake ask.
"No, he just said he'll come over sometime today."
"Well, he better hurry because it's already late." Corey says, laughing.
I grin, and rush inside, sitting on the couch beside Sam, my arms over the back of the couch and one foot up on my knee. It was a second before I heard Kat give a small scream from Sam's other side, grabbing his arm tightly.
