Salina plops down next to me. "So what'd you want to be here for?"
I shrug. "I thought it'd be fun to learn a little more."
"What do you want to know?"
"Anything you haven't told me."
"That's a lot." She says, looking at Penelope.
Penelope just smiles and shakes her head, sitting down on the floor. "I don't care anymore. If you say we're connected, he might as well learn about everything involved."
"Great, because I was dying to tell him." Salina replies. Then she turns to me. "Ask away."
"What is it like being a vampire rather than human? Like, what are the differences, other than the obvious."
"Well, like you said, other than the obvious differences, like the blood lust and enhances senses, really there is no differences. I mean, because our senses are advanced, so are our emotions. For instance, we feel emotions stronger than humans do."
I turn to Penelope. "But I've really only seen you be serious."
"Not if you've known her for a long time." Salina says. "She's more bubbly than she seems." Penelope laughs, catching me by surprise, and throws a pillow at her friend. "See?"
"How are vampires born?"
Penelope pauses, frowning. Salina glances at her, looking uncertain. "Why do you want to know?" Penelope asks.
I shrug. "I was just wondering."
"First vampires are not born. Vampires, both male and female, are sterile. We can't have kids. Second, there's only two ways a vampire is made." Penelope says. "The first way is to be bitten."
I frown. "But you've bitten me."
She shakes her head. "Vampires have venom. When we bite, the venom gets into the victim's system. However, when we feed from the victim, we take not only their blood, but our venom. So they don't... change, but they will get a 'high' from it."
"What happens if you leave the venom? Like you just bite them?"
"Vampire venom is so strong that you would die almost instantly from the pain. After the victim dies, the venom starts working on changing them. It makes their muscles stronger, their eyes stronger, everything. They victim will then be reborn as a vampire."
"What's the second way?"
"This method is more accidental. It doesn't happen often. Usually it happens during... intercourse with a vampire."
I raise my eyebrows. "Intercourse."
"Yeah." Salina says. "See, when a vampire gets into that mood, we feel it differently than humans. As in, we feel it better. So we usually don't notice much around us." Penelope nods.
"So how does this create a vampire?" I ask, feeling incredibly confused.
"Because we don't notice much around us, we usually don't notice when the human partner bites us. Hard enough to draw blood. If a human drinks vampire blood, the blood will change them if they die within twenty four hours, thus creating a vampire." Penelope says.
"So how were you guys made?"
"We were both bitten." Salina answers.
"By the same vampire?"
Salina shakes her head and Penelope laughs. "No, I was bitten a hundred years after Penny."
"I would've sworn you two are related." I say. "You look exactly like each other."
"We get that a lot." Salina says.
"I'm stronger though." Penelope says.
Salina turns to Penelope, frowning. "You are not."
Penelope turns, playfully growling. Then Salina jumps forward onto Penelope. She is then kicked onto the other side of the room, landing on the floor with a thud. Penelope then shoots over in a blur and pins Salina down. "Take it back."
Salina blows hair out of her mouth. "Fine. You're stronger."
Penelope laughs as she lets Salina go and stands up, pulling her up with her. Salina looks to me and laughs at my shocked expression.
"Did that hurt?" I ask.
"When she kicked me?" Salina asks. "No." She laughs again, then moves to the door. "I should probably check on the clan, so I'll let you two have some peace." She then winks at Penelope before disappearing.
"I'll tackle you again!" She calls, and I hear Salina's laugh echo through the hall.
"Some peace?" I ask. "Does she mean what I think she means?"
"She's hardcore on believing you're my One." Penelope says, moving to sit next to me.
"So you?"
"Believe you're my One?" She looks over to see me nod, then she sighs. "I don't know. I didn't believe in that legend. I mean, some vampires here have their partners, but as to if those humans are their One's, I don't know."
"Do you consider me an equivalent to your One?" I ask hopefully.
"You do mean more to me than I anticipated." She shrugs. "Even though I might not show it."
