My Reason

Hello. My name is Brooke. I'm 18 and something you need to know about me is that I'm selectively mute. I just have really bad anxiety talking to people. I'm okay with sign language but I dont let people know that I know sign at first. It just another form of communication. People are so mean and rude I have no reason to talk to them.

I'm 18 I have short blonde wavy hair. My eyes are grey most of the time but sometimes they look blue mainly when I'm angry. I'm 5'2 and athletic but no one would know. I only work out with Alyssa. Thats my sister and for as long as I can remember Alyssa has taken care of me. Our parents are severe alcoholic's, but not the mean kind. They dont hit us. They just yell at us and call us names but it's not bad. They get really upset because I dont talk to them. That's why alyssa and I moved into a small one bedroom apartment as soon as she turned 18.

Alyssa is 20 she had long blonde hair and pale skin. Where I got our moms darker skin she got out dads lighter skin. She has a nice body and is very outgoing and friendly. Unlike me who likes to stay in and read she likes to go out and party. And she might be kind of a slut but I love her anyways.

She attends a few classes and works to support me. I've been working since I graduated cleaning hotel rooms during the day and offices a few nights a week. I get paid enough to put away and help my sister with the Bill's. See my sister is the best person in the world and is always thinking about what will make me happy. She makes sure that no matter what she has my back and I have hers.

Now this all started on a Thursday.  It wasn't just any Thursday though, it just so happened to be the day i met Fifth Harmony. My older sister Alyssa who happens to be my best friend decided to take me to their concert. What she didnt tell me was I was going to be meeting them. The entire way there Alyssa talks about how amazing it was going to be. I love all the girls but I think lauren has something special.

So we were waiting in line reading my book on my phone I patiently wait in line. Alyssa is talking to the other girls in line when I hear them mention meeting the girls.

Hitting her shoulder I glare at her before signing 'what does she mean meet the girl's'
"Maybe I forgot to tell you that part"
'You maybe forgot? How is this supposed to go'
"I was hoping if you need I could translate but you should handle it. I'll be there the whole time."

Looking down and my mind started working. I'm going to meet 5 of the girls who mean the world to me.  The girls were going to hate me though. I'm too fat and my hair is too greasy and my eyes are too different. What if I say the wrong thing, or trip. What if they dont want to take a picture with me.
"Hey Brooke i need you to breathe with me okay" Alyssa walks in front of me  grabbing my hand and putting it on her chest "slow deep breathes okay baby doll"

Whimpering I keep my head down crying softly. Starting to shake I let a sob escape my lip "i...  can't.... breath" pulling me into a hug she tries to get me to calm down when we hear everyone start screaming. Crying harder she pulls me aside and to the back of the line away from everyone. "Baby doll breath for me. Slow beeps breath okay."

Crying into her shoulder I start counting in my head '1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10..."
"What is 986×56?"
'55,216'
"Okay baby doll..."
Zoning out I quickly answer her again. Just because I'm good at math she like to ask me random math questions to help calm me down. Pulling away I wipe my eyes then sign "Thank you sister"

Nodding I hear someone quietly ask "are you okay?" Freezing my eyes widen I think Lauren Jauregui just talked to me.
"Hi. I'm Lauren"
Looking at Alyssa my eyes start tearing up when she grabs my shoulder turning my around.
Giving lauren a small wave I quickly look down.
"Hey pretty girl, why are you crying? Its okay"
Looking at Alyssa she decided to step in "she doesn't talk, she can she just doesn't. My name is Alyssa and this is Brooke. She has alot of anxiety and I didnt mention we are meeting you guys."
Turning I quickly tell her to stop talking.

"Well it's nice to meet the 2 of you. Would you guys like to take a picture?"
Nodding I keep my head down. Walking over one by one the girls introduce themselves. Alyssa quick fills them in the way she did Lauren. The girls despite my anxiety are extremely friendly. Taking a picture they start a conversation with Alyssa but make sure to include me. Opening the door their team starts ushering us out the door towards the crowded building. Grabbing Alyssa's are to catch her attention I start signing 'there are to many people."
"We dont have a choice we have to go now whimpering I close my eyes shaking my head.

Lauren looks over while they are getting there stuff seeing the situation. Grabbing to lanyards she walks over. "Hi, I hope everything is okay and this isn't intrusive. I know you guys said you have anxiety really bad and I get that. Here are 2 all access passes for you. I hope that when the show is over you will come to the bus with us. I would love to get to know you both better." Giving us both quick hugs she runs off catching up with the girls.

"Did that just happen?"
'Did she just invite us to hang out?'
"I was to busy looking at Camila's ass to watch what you said" alyssa admits Blushing
Hitting her another crew member walks over to user us out before seeing out lanyards. "This way please"she leads us to a VIP section that was less crowded. Looking around I his alyssa arms signing quickly 'holy shit it's the Jauregui siblings.'

",Lauren's siblings?"
' do you want them to hear you? And yes chris and taylor! I wonder what it's like having such an amazing sister.'

Rolling her eyes and laughing alyssa hits me
"It's kinda crazy knowing so many people love your sister" I hear taylor say next to me making me quickly spin around
'You know sign?"
"I'm not fluent but I have a friend that I'm learning for. I am assuming you aren't deaf being that you didnt want her to hear us?"she asks smiling kindly
"She just doesn't talk. She can just doesnt"
Signing back taylor smiles "then do what makes you happy and talk if you are comfortable. Now are you ready to jam out with me?"
Nodding I smile 'deffinantly. I hope that they perform squeeze. It's my favorite'
"Oh it's one of mine too!"

The show started shortly after. Dancing with my sister and Taylor was so fun. I got so many videos of the  concert. All of the girls looked so good and sang their hearts out. Once the concert my sister look at me "are we going to the busses?"
Taylor grabbed my hand "omg you have too. I think you and lolo would get along great!" She quickly started to drag me away. That's how I ended up here with Taylor and my sister in fifth harmony's dressing room with all the girls and a half naked lauren.
