All the shadows

All the shields

All the voices

They stir the field

He lets out a small laugh and sniffles, looking away from me and to his feet.

We gotta lift our eyes to the dawn

Through the forest of forgotten tears

–– “A lot of people told me not to let someone go, if you know they’re the one.” ––

Let it all out

Tears spilled down his cheeks. I wanted to wipe them away so badly, and to tell him everythings going to be okay, like I always did. But my hands are frozen, grasped around the bundle of the ocean breeze.

Let your guard down

Let it fall down

–– “I know you’re the one Cass. I’ve been with you for so long, as my best friend, and maybe someone more than that. I love you Cass” ––

And rearrange again

And rearrange again

My heart races, and the knot in my stomach loosens.

Words

They don't ever seem to feel the same

When you hear them all the time

–– “I know I won’t stop loving you, whether, if you’re my best friend or girlfriend...” ––

How

Do you ever let go of the shame?

When you left someone behind

I’m not going to lose him anymore.

Flowers hang

The spaces over our lives

They remind us to forget the pain

“... I don’t know if you still like me, but please don’t tell me I’m too late or...”

All the shadows

All the shields

All the voices

They stir the field

I gently tip his chin up with my finger, so that his eyes locked into mine.

We gotta lift our eyes to the dawn

Through the forest of forgotten tears

“You’re never too late.”

And.

I kissed him.

Let it all out

Let your guard down

Let it fall down

His lips were softer than I imagined.

After watching a lot, and I mean a lot of romantic movies, this kiss is... so much better.

I dropped the clothes, leaving a puddle by our feet.

A hand on his cheek, the other on his chest.

Let it all out

Let your guard down

Let it fall down

I felt his arms wrap around my waist, like he always did.

But this felt different.

A good kind of different.

And rearrange again

And rearrange again

The taste of his lips, the soft sound of his breathing, the metallic brush of his lip ring.

Minutes pass. Or maybe hours.

Luke’s POV

I pull away and lean my forehead against hers.

The taste of her lips lingers on mine.

Oh oh oh oh oh

Looking into her warm brown eyes, I smile and lean in closer.

“You promise?” I ask.

Ou ou

She moves in, her smile against mine.

“I promise.”

A tingle goes down my back as I lean in for another kiss.

This time.

It's time to say goodbye

And start over

I know that she’s mine.
