7 - The First Steps

Start from the beginning

"ALRIGHT. WHOEVER YOU ARE, YOU MIGHT AS WELL COME OUT NOW!" A voice boomed out from every direction.

"Stop. What are you yelling about? You're gonna upset the guests. They are all pretty on edge as is." Another entered with a chastising tone.

"There is someone down here, hiding."

"What?! Impossible. We checked everything before loading."

"Well I just heard some rather hard breathing that I know for a fact didn't come from the ship!"

Shoot. Was I snoring?

"Relax. It could just be some animal. Rats sneak onto ships all the time."

"I didn't hear a rat. Now come on. We gotta check every box. That Joestar guy is gonna be pissed someone got through."

You clutched the surrounding insulation fibers as your palms sweated profusely. Your mind taking off in a million directions at once.

Crap. Do I wait for them to find me, or do I make a run for it? Are we even far enough out to sea for it be okay to reveal myself. Damn, why did I have to fall asleep?!

Without thinking, you slammed your fist against the wall of the crate you were in.

"Did you hear that?!"

"Yeah. Over here."

Fuuuuuuuu

You clung to the walls of the crate anxiously as you awaited the approach of the two workers. Sweat trickled down your forehead, your palms even clammier than before, and a solid lump started to form inside your throat.

*Thud, thud, THUD*

Your throat grew tight as you stopped breathing moments ago. You could tell they were standing right outside.

"This one. I heard it from over here." he said while slamming a fist down on the wooden exterior. You silently whimpered, and waited.

There was a light scuffling sound resonating above you, then a solid *POP* as the lid was shucked off, revealing your cowering form.

Two faces scowled down from above. You gulped. "Umm... hi?"

One man turned away, forcefully smacking his palm into his face. The other sneered and reached down to you. You attempted to shirk away from his hand, but he grabbed onto you and yanked you up and out of the crate. He held you suspended by your arm glaring daggers into your eyes. You shot back a similar spiteful look. You knew there was nowhere to run really, but you'd be damned if you let this man continue to hang you like some vermin.

Supernova formed from within you and raised her temperature just enough to phase your captor. He dropped you, grumbling some curse as your turned tail to run.

"The hell just happened?!"

"Does it matter? Hurry up and grab that bitch!"

I guess everything happens now.

Determined to find an exit, you jumped and weaved around the maze of crates strewn about the hull. The room was large and dimly lit, but you could make out an opening of sunlight a couple meters ahead. Despite the loud clamoring behind you, you rushed forward. Thankfully the light you saw before was indeed the exit as you were now standing in the middle of a doorway. Your head swept across your shoulders in both directions, analyzing the best course of action. However, the moment you spared thinking proved unfruitful as a set of hands clamped down around your waist.

"GET OFF ME!" You screamed and tried to turn around to face the offender, but they simply hoisted you up and slung you over their shoulder. You swung your fists and kicked your legs around in a feral manner, trying to fidget loose, but it was a null effort. The man simply carried you away and walked out onto the deck, mumbling something about how someone just had to make trouble for them on an already stressful day.
