Kid

Woof woof

The sound of Blue yelling made me jump up out of bed. I threw my pink slippers on and put my robe on. I grabbed the pepper spray and walked to my door looking through the peep hole seeing a little kid holding up a folder and a note with my address.

I opened the door and peeked outside not seeing anyone. I turned the light on and looked at the kid who had long curly hair that blocked his eyes. He walked straight inside my apartment and stood in the hallway staring at me. I locked the door and sat down on my couch. He showed me the note and I nodded my head then he gave me the folder.

"Uhh you alright kid" I asked opening the folder

He nodded at me and I looked at the contents of the folder. It was a birth certificate with other important documents. I stared at the kid and looked back at the documents.

"You kinda tall for a six year old"

Amir shrugged at me and I got off the couch running a bath. I set a towel down with a black T-shirt Amir followed me to the bathroom and leaned against the wall. I told him the bath was ready and when he was out let me know.

He nodded at me and I walked into the living room placing his folder on top of the refrigerator. I made a makeshift bed on the couch and ran into my room putting on some clothes. I turned the Tv on in the living room watching Spongebob. An hour had went by and I looked up seeing Amir in the corner of the room just staring at me.

I stood up and looked at his skin "You need lotion kid"

He followed me into the bathroom and I grabbed some lotion and handed him the bottle. Amir put the lotion on not rubbing it in all the way.

"Can I touch you"

He nodded slowly and I rubbed the lotion in. I put the bottle in the cabinet and told him that his bed was on the couch. Amir left the bathroom and I took the water out of the bathtub seeing the ring of dirt. I cleaned the bathtub and stepped into the living room seeing him fast asleep. I turned the light off and made my way into my room doing the exact same.

The feeling of someone tapping me along with my dog barking while my cat laid on my face was enough to wake up. I groaned and turned over in bed feeling the exact same thing. I sat up and looked around seeing the boy from last night.

"Wassup kid"

He rubbed his stomach and I stood up walking into the living room grabbing two bowls. I looked back at him and pointed at the Frosted Flakes. He nodded at me and I poured two bowls. Amir smiled and took his bowl eating at the counter.

"Amir you gotta get dressed so I can take you down to the police station" I said speaking before thinking

Amir stopped eating and tilted his head to the side then he shook his head.

"Why not kid"

He shrugged then shook his head again "Alright how about I drop you off at an orphanage"

He frowned

I didn't know how to respond to that "Well I work there"

Amir's body language changed and he looked like he wanted to say something but decided against it. I sighed and decided I needed to get him some clothes. I looked at his pants and shirt taking down his measurements.

"I'll get Taj to buy you some new clothes"

Amir nodded at me and finished eating he went to the couch and sat down while I washed my dishes calling up Taj. She was extremely excited and I was going to add a little more to her day.

"Wassup girl"

"Hey Taj can you buy some clothes for a boy"

Taj got quiet "What's goin on?"

"This boy came over randomly I just need some clothes for him" I said quickly

"Alright"

I sent her the measurements and she texted back a thumbs up. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and I relaxed on the couch next to Amir who was looking out the window mouthing something. I was curious to see where he came from.

We sat in silence until Taj came inside. She smiled at me giving me a huge hug. Then she walked up to Amir extending her hand. Amir took it and Taj shook his hand then looked at me.

"Alright go jump in the shower" I said watching him run to the back

Taj watched him run off and she looked at me. I told her the story and she sat there looking at me. I wondered what was going through her head but nothing was said. I relaxed in my chair and looked at the ceiling.

"What are you going to do"

"I told him he would be at the orphanage with me"

"Aww you attached" Taj teased popping her gum she smiled broadly and crossed her arms
