It all began one Thursday night in the month of October when the call came through.

Mum answered and exchanged pleasantries before chatting to whoever was on the phone.

I didn't think much of it at that time and busied myself with some homework.

But when I returned to the room Mum had just ended the call. She had a small smile playing on her lips.

"Who was it?" Dad questioned.

"Aunty Hafsa... She phoned to ask about Asma for her son Muhammed.... She wants to know if they can maybe meet next Saturday...."

"This is your Aunty's sisters son right?" Dad enquired.

"Yes.... a very nice boy." Mum said "I think they'll make a good match" She smiled.

All the while I was quietly listening to their conversation... My heart was jumping....

"Asmaa!" Dad called

"Coming!" She replied...

And a few moments later she appeared in the room.

"Jee dad?"

"Asma, there's a proposal for you..." dad then went on to explain her who it was and all the other details.

I was so excited and already started to plan her wedding when this was just her very first proposal!

But when I looked at Asma she didn't look happy at all...

"Isn't it that guy we seen outside the Mall a while ago?" She asked

*FLASHBACK 6 MONTHS*

As we stepped out of the Mall Mum spotted Aunty Hafsa and her son.

"Look there..." Mum said pointing in their direction " that's Aunty Hafsa and her son Muhammed"

"He looks nice for you Asma... what you say?" Dad asked playfully

Asma glanced at the boy who was sitting squat on the parking lot floor sipping his drink.

"Eww! Never will I marry someone like that!" She said pulling her face as we walked on to our car...

*END OF FLASHBACK*

Amz burst into fits of laughter.

"Please you have to let them come, it'll be so funny!!" She laughed.

"He's not bad Asma.... I've met him a couple of times, he's a very decent boy" Dad tried to convince Asma...

"Just see him, then you can say whether you like him or not" Mum said....

"Umm.... Okay then, let them come." Asma said shyly.

"I'll phone and let her know tomorrow, it's late now"

‎"إن شاء الله"
